New Mexico Bill to Legalize Marijuana Passes House Committee

Category: Legalization | Posted on Tue, February, 7th 2017 by THCFinder

A New Mexico Bill to Legalize Marijuana passed the House Committee moving the issue forward in a state that shares its borders with Arizona and Colorado, both states that have successful marijuana policies. As many of our readers know, 8 states have legalized marijuana. During the 2016 election in November, the people of California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada voted to make marijauna legal for adult use, joining Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and Alaska.

According to KRWG, a public media outlet for Southern New Mexico, a bill to legalize, tax, and safely regulate marijuana passed the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee by a vote of 3 to 1. House Bill 89 (HB 89) would open New Mexico to the $35 billion marijuana industry and create a major new stream of revenue for our ailing economy. The revenue from this act would fund public schools, substance abuse programs, public safety, and the public defenders office. The act would legalize the social use of marijuana for adults aged 21 or over.

Louisiana State University is Looking for Pot Farmers

Category: News | Posted on Tue, February, 7th 2017 by THCFinder

Louisiana State University is taking offers from contractors to grow and process weed for the state’s medical marijuana program.

LSU professor Dr. Ted Gauthier told WBRZ-TV that lots of people from out of state have shown a great deal of interest in doing the honors. He added that they expect to have about 10 finalists to choose from.

“We’re looking for somebody who will be able to provide the quality product for the patients in Louisiana who will be using the medical marijuana product,” said Gautheir, a researcher at LSU’s AgCenter Biotechnology Laboratory.

Louisiana’s medical marijuana bill was officially signed into law back in May 2016, making it the 25th state to legalize some type of MMJ program, although no one was allowed to grow or process cannabis until now.

This Cutting-Edge Marijuana Bill Could Keep Pot Users From Losing Their Jobs

Category: News | Posted on Mon, February, 6th 2017 by THCFinder

Marijuana had an incredible 2016, and the hope for pro-legalization enthusiasts is that momentum will continue to carry into 2017 and beyond.

As it currently stands, just 21 years after California became the first state to legalize cannabis for medical purposes, 28 states have now legalized medicinal pot, while residents in eight states have voted in favor of legalizing recreational, adult-use weed. In fact, in the November elections eight out of nine cannabis initiatives/amendments passed, with the lone failure being Arizona, which saw its recreational marijuana initiative fail by just 2%.
