WA judges decide 8 to 1, you can lose your job for smoking
The Washington state supreme court decides 8 to 1 that medical marijuana patients can lose their job for failing a drug test.
While Justice Tom Chambers said it was unfortunate that the law does not take into account medical marijuana patients but at rules are rules at this point and you have to follow them. Chambers mentioned in his ruling that he would urge the law makers to reevaluate these laws.
This ruling partially stemmed from a 2007 law suit where a woman known as 'Jane Roe' was fired from her job at TeleTech Customer Service Management for testing positive at her pre-employment screening. The laws have not yet been changed to accommodate patients usage outside of the workplace. To read more about the Washington State Supreme Court Ruling click here.
THCFinder Editor Review
Denver, CO: The Clinc
In early April the THCFinder crew had the great opportunity to go to High Times Cannabis Cup. While we were there we met a lot of great fans and activists that are fighting for ‘our’ cause. While we were in town we experienced the city of Denver, as well as what the medical marijuana industry the city had to offer. To say the least, we were not disappointed. We visited with dispensaries across the city to get a feel for what was unique about medical marijuana within the city and Colorado as a whole. We were fortunate enough to meet with a lot of great business owners who gave us the inside view of their shop and what they had to offer. What we found is that each shop truly is different and each one offers patients with a different feel, atmosphere, and product selection. We have been posting our perspective, as the editors, of what we thought about the businesses, bud tenders, and some of the products while we were in Denver. Our next stop is The Clinic on Holly and Colfax.
The Clinic in Denver has two wonderful locations each offering a wide variety of products to their patients, one of Colfax and another on Holly and three more in the works. Once you get through the secure door, the first thing anyone will notice about the business is the great ambience and mood the Clinic has to offer. We were met by the Rick and Ryan, the owners who graciously showed us around. The clinic seemed to be a bit ahead of its time with multiple rooms offering a variety of products in each. Our favorite was the edibles room, as a producer of their own edibles with outstanding potency their vast selection was simply amazing. From edibles, to soda and candy, the Clinic had it all. Although the edible selection was great and the locations were inviting, we obviously came for the buds and we were not disappointed. We sampled five different strains all of which we were delighted with.
Afgoo was one of the first buds we sampled. We were immediately impressed with that great indica quality it had about it. The relaxation hit you like a train upon exhale and kept you planted in your seat for a while. After only a couple hits it was near bedtime for most of the staff. This bud is definitely for a night cap or at every once in a while smoke. Don’t plan on getting much accomplished for a while after hitting this.
he grapefruit was a great indica and the staff really seemed to enjoy it. At first appearance this bud looked like the typical round, short, well manicured bud, it hits you hard and gives you that great relaxation that you expect from an indica. The smooth inhale sets your mind at ease while the exhale tastes just like its name. It is a one of a kind taste that will instantly put you back in your seat. Although this bud was a favorite it was by no means the only great bud they had to offer.
The Flo was the only hybrid we sampled while at the Clinic but it left nothing to be imagined. This hybrid had the best of both worlds, it offered that slightly elevated state will still keeping you calm and relaxed. The Flo allowed us to be fully functional yet not overly stimulated and was easily one of the best hybrids we got our hands on in Denver. This bud had great shape, smell, and density; it broke up nicely and had a great stem ‘crack’ to exemplify how well the bud was cured. We were extremely pleased with the Flo and it is worth making a trip to the Clinic to pick up a little bit of this outstanding medicine.
The Clinic's Banana Kush had a powerful banana scent that carried through in the flavor of its thick and flavorful smoke. My new favorite idica kush, I was definitely pleasantly surprised in this tasty $40 top shelf that left my mouth watering
Grape God Bud
The Grape God Bud fulfills its name in both quality and potency. The well-cured nature of these buds provided a sweet and aromatic smell with a moderately sticky texture. This classic full body high was potent, but absolutely fantastic. The Grape God Bud rated highest on our list with an overall rating of 5 out of 5.
We would like to thank The Clinic once again for inviting us into their shop. We had a fantastic time and hope to be back very soon. Smoking Marijuana and Getting Skinny
According to information released at the meeting of the Society for Nuclear Medicine (SNM) a new study may prove that the smoking of marijuana will help you lose weight. Through PET scan imaging scientist were able to examin the brains of hibitual marijuana users.
Through the use of marijuana over an extended period of time the THC begins to suppress the level of CB1 receptor activity within the brain. 'The decrease of CB1 activity is known as “downregulation.” And while no specific adverse effects of this occurrence in marijuana users has been identified by researchers, there is a presumption among them that the decrease is not good.'
'[In that study], suppression of CB1 activity in obese subjects resulted in reduced waist size, improved blood levels of HDL-cholesterol and triglycerides, and improved insulin activity and overall reduction of symptoms of metabolic syndrome.'
The munchies aren't quite a thing of the past but this does show that there is hope for anyone that is a little on the heavy side.

Connecticut is one step Closer to Decriminalization
“Final approval of this legislation accepts the reality that the current law does more harm than good – both in the impact it has on people’s lives and the burden it places on police, prosecutors and probation officers of the criminal justice system,” Said Gov. Dannel P. Malloy after the House of Representatives passed a vote (90-57) on Tuesday, making marijuana decriminalized in the state of Connecticut. This comes in line with a number of other states currently fighting this battle on their own level.
The act of decriminlizing will reduce the penatly for possesing less than a half ounce from a potential prision sentence to a $150 fine and up to $1,000 for individulas holding less than 4 ounces. This is a great stepping stone for both the state of Conneticut as well as the medical marijuana community as a whole.
