"We Are Not Winning" - Former LAPD officer on the war on drugs

Category: Culture | Posted on Tue, October, 25th 2011 by THCFinder
The War on Drugs has failed and more and more politicians, officers and organizations are coming out to back it up.

A former LAPD officer urges fellow law enforcers to honor sworn oaths to uphold state laws and send medical-marijuana-busting grants back to the federal government.

The federal government has put up another $72 million in "war-on-drugs-grants" to redirect your police resources once again from true public safety duties in order to extend their failed war on drugs; this time with a savage assault on California's 15-year-old medical marijuana law. Are you going to take the money and enforce federal law in lieu of upholding the will of the people of California or are you going to honor your sworn oath to uphold the laws of our sovereign state and send the money back?

Rihanna's trip to cannabis cafe

Even Rihanna is ready to get her smoke on...

Just days after a spending spree in a sordid Paris sex shop the songbird paid a visit to one of Amsterdam's most notorious cannabis cafes.

The singer emerged from the Bulldog coffee shop yesterday afternoon, with a furry hat pulled down low and wearing shades.

Obama Visit Pushed Back; Marijuana Protest at 1 p.m

Category: Politics | Posted on Tue, October, 25th 2011 by THCFinder
Medical marijuana patients are pissed off and ready to be heard today, or atleast seen!

The stoners are on president time.

President Barack Obama has pushed back to 1 p.m. his fundraising visit to San Francisco Tuesday  -- and the medical marijuana advocates planning to mark the occasion of his visit with a protest have adjusted their schedules as well.

Obama is now scheduled to touch down at San Francisco International Airport at 12:45 p.m. Pacific time. He will attend a fundraising lunch -- a later lunch than originally planned, so the $7,500-per-plate crowd among us may do well with a late breakfast -- at the W Hotel at 2:10 p.m.

The City's medical marijuana community -- dispensary operators, legal cultivators and patients who depend on the magic plant for their daily tonic -- plan to assemble on the northwest corner of Mission and Third streets near the W Hotel at 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to reports

Outrage has been fomented over the past several weeks ever since the United States attorneys for California sent a series of letters to state-legal medical marijuana dispensaries, ordering them to shut down or face stiff penalties.

Obama had promised on the campaign trail to not use scarce federal resources to circumvent state law, but somewhere along the line, the president changed his mind.

Obama's Misguided Crackdown on Medical Marijuana

Category: Medical Marijuana | Posted on Tue, October, 25th 2011 by THCFinder

Is re-election more important than letting people take medication that can ease their suffering and pain and let them live normal lives? It seems so with Obamas recent change of heart and flip flopping on his promises to not interfer with state side affairs. The promise to stop going after legal medical marijuana dispensaries has been broken just like many other promises Mr. Obama has made.

Why is the government cracking down on medical marijuana, a $1.7 billion business in California alone — and one of the few that seems to be thriving in a moribund economy?

In early October, the Justice Department announced it would be targeting medical marijuana dispensaries in California. Calling large dispensaries "profiteers" that "hijacked" California's medical marijuana law and were "motivated not by compassion but by money," the state's four U.S. attorneys announced the arrests of two major dispensary owners and a lawyer they accused of making millions from growing the drug.

It was a reversal of President Obama's campaign promise to end the previous administration's legal pursuit of medical marijuana. Although Obama's justice department had previously abided by a memo, which said that prosecuting marijuana providers and patients who followed state law was not an "efficient use of federal resources," over the summer the administration changed tactics, expressing concern about "an increase in the scope of commercial cultivation, sale, distribution and use of marijuana for purported medical purposes." It began sending letters to dispensaries and their landlords threatening forfeiture of the property if marijuana sales did not stop.

The IRS has also begun its own crackdown on California dispensaries. It now claims that the dispensaries owe back taxes because all of their business deductions are illegal. In addition, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms recently warned gun dealers not to sell to users of medical marijuana.
