High June in Colorado — Retail Cannabis Sales Get Silver Medal

Category: News | Posted on Sat, August, 20th 2016 by THCFinder

Boulder, Colorado — June this year gave us National Doughnut Day, International Picnic Day, Father’s Day, the Summer Solstice and plenty more. But in Colorado, it presented yet something else worth celebrating — the second busiest month of cannabis sales since the state legalized recreational cannabis.

“The June numbers reflect the profound and sustained boom going on in the cannabis industry in Colorado,” said BDS Analytics founder and CEO Roy Bingham. “Month after month our data reveals heightened retail sales.”

June was awfully kind to Colorado cannabis in 2016, clocking $112 million in dispensary sales,

a 31-percent increase over June 2015. The adult-use channel drove the growth, rising 47 percent to $74 million. Medical outlets grew 8 percent to $38 million, but all of that dollar growth came from a 9-percent average selling price increase as sales of individual units in medical declined 0.5 percent.

Santa Fe Cops Still Busting Marijuana Users Despite Decriminalization

Category: News | Posted on Sat, August, 20th 2016 by THCFinder

It seems that although the city’s governmental forces have all agreed that busting tokers is a waste of time and valuable resources, the Santa Fe Police Department has been running a clever little racket in which officers are leaning on state law when it comes to how they handles incidents involving petty marijuana offenses.

Appeals Court Bars Feds From Prosecuting Medical Marijuana Cases

Category: Medical Marijuana | Posted on Fri, August, 19th 2016 by THCFinder

A federal appeals court told the U.S. Department of Justice this week that it can no longer prosecute cases against medical marijuana businesses where the defendants are compliant with relevant state laws.

The ruling on Tuesday by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco comes despite the fact that marijuana remains illegal in any form on the federal level. Last week, DOJ agency the Drug Enforcement Administration declined to change marijuana’s classification as a Schedule 1 drug—the category reserved for the most dangerous drugs, such as heroin, that the federal government claims have no known medical application.
