Tokeativity: Cannabis Events for Women

Category: Culture | Posted on Mon, February, 6th 2017 by THCFinder

After creating relationships and community with the women I worked with in the Moms for Yes on Measure 91 group and the Portland Women Grow chapter, it became obvious to me that there was a need for women to be able to engage in community building and social cannabis consumption together.  Well, that need has been answered in Portland by a new event platform called Tokeativity

Tokeavity has cannabis consumption friendly events and essentially strives to create a safe and nurturing space for women.  In keeping the events exclusive to women, it not only allows space for women to become vulnerable with each other, but it also for women to work on skills and traits they need to succeed in life, however that may look for each individual.

Alaska rejects marijuana consumption at retail pot stores

Category: News | Posted on Mon, February, 6th 2017 by THCFinder

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Marijuana regulators in Alaska on Thursday narrowly rejected a proposal that would have made the state the first in the nation to allow marijuana consumers to use the pot that they buy at the retail stores selling it.

In a 3-2 vote, the Alaska Marijuana Control board decided not to allow it – prompting criticism from retailers who vowed to continue to press for some sort of allowable marijuana use at their stores.

The proposed new rules would have let people buy marijuana products in authorized stores and go into separate store areas to partake.

Board member Mark Springer, among those who voted to reject the measure, said he was worried how the new administration of President Donald Trump might view marijuana use at retail stores in Alaska.

It remains illegal at the federal level but has also been legalized in 7 other U.S. states and the District of Columbia.

Texas Officials Warn: Marijuana Much Preferable to Fake Marijuana

Category: News | Posted on Sun, February, 5th 2017 by THCFinder

“It felt like my body was just failing on me,” a teen wrote on, describing the highs promised by synthetic marijuana, the random scraps of plant material sprayed with random chemicals sold in gas stations, smoke shops and on the street as a cheap, and sometimes sort-of-legal, alternative to actual cannabis. In case you think that sounds like fun—don’t.

“My organs were not working any further, it was just shutting down,” the teen wrote. “I began to shake much like someone would during a seizure.”

The serious health risk posed by synthetic cannabinoids are becoming well known, which is good, because they sound like fake news. Synthetic marijuana is believed to be the cause of the “mass casualty event” last summer in New York, when ambulances were dispatched to reports of people wandering around in a “zombielike’ state. Fake weed is causing such a stir in San Antonio, Texas—with first responders responding to eight calls of synthetic marijuana poisoning in a four-hour period on Jan. 26 and users experiencing the same mannequin challenge-winning “freezing (like a statue)” seen in New York, as well as vomiting, nausea, kidney problems and the occasional psychotic episode—that fire officials are showing tacit approval for much-safer, regular, old, outlawed marijuana.
