How Much Does A Marijuana Blunt Roller Job Pay In The Music Industry?

I have lived my entire life in Oregon, and have always loved music. That has made life tougher for me compared to other people that live in larger states that have more of a ‘music scene.’ There are not a ton of high profile music events in Oregon, which is not to say that we don’t have great music here, because we do, but we don’t have music events on the same level as a state like California. As an Oregonian I would travel to California from time to time for some huge music festivals, each of which had dozens of musical acts that I liked.

I was at a music festival in California in 2011 and I got a chance to meet the members of Cypress Hill. It is a moment that I often measure my life around, as in the pre-Cypress Hill meet up part of my life and the post-Cypress Hill meet up part of my life. The group was doing a meet and greet at the event, and I made sure to be one of the first ones in line. While I was waiting for my turn to meet the group, I couldn’t help but watch a guy whose sole purpose at the event seemed to be to roll blunts for the group members and entourage. This guy could roll blunts faster than anyone I had ever seen before, and they were all uniform in shape and size. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone as good at rolling blunts as he was.

I was left wondering if that was an actual job for the guy, or if he was just the best at it out of the crew so he did it out of necessity? He didn’t seem to actually be a part of the group’s crew, he seemed like an employee. I was never able to confirm it, but I do know now that there are actually quite a few blunt rollers in the music industry. So many that apparently Billboard was able to find enough of them to determine the average salary of a blunt roller while on tour. According to Billboard, it’s $500/week, and also includes free hotel and travel expenses.

Legalizing Marijuana In California Could Increase State Pot Prices

Category: Legalization | Posted on Sun, August, 16th 2015 by THCFinder

California already collects millions of dollars in sales tax revenue from the medical marijuana industry, but one California legislator thinks it might be time for another tax, and that means higher pot prices.

State Senator George Runner, a Republican and vice-chair of the state’s Board of Equalization, thinks marijuana users should have to pay for the damages caused by the pot industry.

“As a matter of taxpayer equity, the medical marijuana industry and its end users, rather than ordinary California taxpayers, should pay the costs of combatting marijuana-related crimes and other externalities.”

A recent visit to Northern California’s “Emerald Triangle” convinced Runner the state needed to find a way to pay for all the problems caused by the marijuana industry.

The “Emerald Triangle” consists of three counties: Mendocino, Humboldt, and Trinity; and accounts for 60 percent of the country’s marijuana.

The problem is all that marijuana growth brings additional problems like added crime and environmental damage, and Runner doesn’t think ordinary Californian’s should have to foot the bill.

Marijuana games in S.F. aim to change stoner stereotypes

Category: News | Posted on Sat, August, 15th 2015 by THCFinder

SAN FRANCISCO — Students, accountants, businessmen, housewives and many others in green T-shirts and all wearing the number 420 raced Saturday to change the stereotypical images of marijuana smokers as lazy and lethargic stoners who binge on junk food.

More than 300 people came from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to participate in the 420 Games, an effort to stop the stigmatization of cannabis use through athletic events.

"People who use marijuana have been classified as dumb, lazy, stupid people and with this race we're showing them we're not what they say we are," said Jim McAlpine, a snowboard company executive who founded the events last year. "We want to show them we are motivated, athletic members of society."

The origins of the number 420 as a code for marijuana are murky, but fans have long marked April 20 as a day to enjoy pot and call for increased legal access to the drug.
