New York Expands Medical Marijuana Program (Finally)

Category: News | Posted on Tue, December, 6th 2016 by THCFinder

New York Health officials have agreed to expand the state’s medical-marijuana program by adding “chronic pain” to the state’s list of qualified conditions.

On Thursday, the state Department of Health announced that physicians would soon have the freedom to recommend cannabis medicine to those patients living with this common condition. It is a move that stands to give tens of thousands more patients across the state the ability to use medical marijuana as opposed to prescription opioids.

“After conducting a thorough review of the scientific literature, it became clear that there may be certain benefits in the use of medical marijuana by patients suffering from chronic pain,” NY Health Commissioner Dr. Howard A. Zucker said in a statement. “Medical marijuana is already helping thousands of patients across New York State, and adding chronic pain as a qualifying condition will help more patients and further strengthen the program.”

Puff Puff Pass: The Tale of THC

Category: Medical Marijuana | Posted on Mon, December, 5th 2016 by THCFinder

Why do people smoke pot recreationally? The most obvious answer is to get high.

But what does it mean to be high? Being high on marijuana has been described as feeling “…euphoria, relaxation and changes in perception,” often accompanied by an inexplicable fascination for colorful images and psychedelic fractals.

We do it because it’s fun, but  have you ever considered what “being high” means on a physical/chemical scale? What is happening to our brains when we smoke the devil’s lettuce? Let’s take a journey into the body—and follow the ever famous THC molecule.

We start our journey on the fruit of the cannabis plant, the part that we smoke. Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid  (THCA) exists both inside the plant, as well as on the surface in crystal structures known as trichomes. You may think this is the molecule that gets us high; you would be mistaken. THCA is an inactive form of the molecule, it does nothing for us psychotropically speaking.

Trump’s anti-pot attorney general choice rattles legal marijuana movement

Category: News | Posted on Mon, December, 5th 2016 by THCFinder

DENVER – Legal pot's future is in a haze, thanks to President-elect Trump's nomination of a staunchly anti-marijuana lawmaker for attorney general.

“Good people don't smoke marijuana," said Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions in an April Senate hearing.

That view from the nation's incoming top cop, a sharply different tone than President Obama's, has cast a pall over an industry that's recently celebrated a watershed moment. Voters in eight states relaxed their marijuana laws on Nov. 8, raising to 29 the states that now permit medical use of marijuana, and eight with legal recreational laws on the books.
