cops law enforcement special needs students entrapmentRepresentatives from two organizations advocating for criminal justice reform in Houston will hold a press conference Thursday calling for Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman to immediately take administrative action against three sheriff’s deputies who forcibly conducted an illegal body cavity search on a woman in Houston. The organizations will also call for Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson to investigate the allegation and file any necessary criminal charges against the deputies involved.

The organizations involved are the Houston Justice Coalition and Houston NORML.

The Harris County Sheriff’s deputies have been identified as William Strong, Ronaldine Pierre and R. Rojas. The incident occurred on June 21 in North Harris County when a deputy stopped 21-year-old Charnesia Corley for allegedly running a stop sign. They claimed she smelled of marijuana, and demanded she pull down her pants and spread her legs in a public parking lot, according to reports. One of the deputies then began to insert her fingers into Corley’s vagina.

When Corley stood and protested, she was thrown to the ground and a second female deputy was called to the scene. According to Corley’s attorney, R. Pierre held one leg and sat on her back, while R. Rojas held her other leg. Both deputies then forced her legs apart and conducted an intrusive manual cavity search.

Most Anti-Pot Claims Supported by Weak Science

Category: News | Posted on Thu, August, 13th 2015 by THCFinder

The majority of the anti-pot claims that pop up in your newsfeed on a daily basis, like marijuana is as addictive as heroin, or that weed causes lower IQ points, are supported by weak science, according to a new report released by the International Centre for Science in Drug Policy.

In the study entitled “State of Evidence: Cannabis Use and Regulation,” researchers paint a comprehensive portrait of the most common claims made in regards to cannabis use and the power of their supporting evidence.

Interestingly, researchers found that most of these declarations are cherry picked in a manner intended to bamboozle the public – contributing to policies supposedly drafted in the interest of public safety that are rooted in misinformation.

Researchers say that claims about marijuana often “confuse correlation and causation,” and that just because “scientific evidence may find associations between two events, this does not indicate that one necessarily caused the other.”

Marijuana Users Should Be Outraged Over This New Dangerous Trend

Category: News | Posted on Wed, August, 12th 2015 by THCFinder

Let’s be clear about this. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), “Synthetic marijuana is a designer drug that does not contain marijuana but rather contains any of a variety of plants sprayed with laboratory-produced chemicals.”

Known by various names, including synthetic cannabinoids, Spice, K2, Black Mamba and Crazy Clown, these drugs are responsible for an increasing number of harmful and dangerous reactions.

“The most commonly reported adverse health effects associated with synthetic cannabinoid use were agitation, tachycardia [elevated heart rate], drowsiness or lethargy, vomiting, and confusion,” the CDC reports.

These drugs have become popular because consumers have been duped into thinking they are a legal form of marijuana. Often sold over the counter as herbal products, many forms of these chemical-laced products have been banned. Nonetheless, they remain available in the illicit market and in some legal forms due to different chemical compositions.

Marijuana users should be outraged over this slanderous and fraudulent reference to the cannabis plant. These drugs do not contain cannabinoids, natural or synthetic, and are in no way related to marijuana and/or the cannabis plant.
