The Big California Marijuana Legalization Initiative Is About To Roll Out

The long-awaited pot legalization initiative from the Coalition for Cannabis Policy Reform, also known as ReformCA, is about to be filed with state officials. Backers of the initiative told the LA Weekly Tuesday that language for circulation will be filed with the attorney general’s office in a matter of “days.”

There are a handful of legalization initiatives already filed and some already approved for signature gathering, but there is little sign that any of them have the financial and organizational resources to actually make the ballot. It takes some 365,000 valid voter signatures to qualify, a number that virtually demands paid signature gatherers at a cost that could approach a million dollars.

The ReformCA campaign, on the other hand, has the backing of both powerful and deep-pocketed national groups as the Drug Policy Alliance and the Marijuana Policy Project, as well as major state drug reform, civil rights, and labor groups, including the California NAACP and the United Food and Commercial Workers.

ReformCA has spent more than a year drafting final language after consultations with players across the board, from marijuana consumers, growers, and advocates in a series of public meetings across the state, as well as listening to the positions of law enforcement, public health, and local officials.

California Dispensaries Offering Free Marijuana to Valley Fire Victims

Category: News | Posted on Wed, September, 30th 2015 by THCFinder

In an effort to alleviate some of the pain and suffering still reverberating from a Northern California wildfire that erupted earlier this month, a couple of medical marijuana dispensaries are offering free medicine to those patients affected by the blaze.

According to the LA Times, two marijuana businesses—Care By Design and AbsoluteXtracts—are providing patients with up to $200 in complimentary cannabis for the next week. The participating companies represent five dispensaries spanning several areas, including San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol and a delivery option in Lake County.

In order to qualify for free weed, residents must show eligibility for the state’s medical marijuana program and live among the communities most devastated by the fire that has incinerated nearly 120 square miles over the course of the past few weeks.

The companies have set aside $20,000 of marijuana products to donate to victims of the fire. Patients meeting the criteria may take advantage of the offer from now until October 7.

All of these CEOs have admitted to smoking marijuana

Category: Celebrities | Posted on Tue, September, 29th 2015 by THCFinder

Some CEOs characterize it as a youthful indiscretion, while others say they’ve been at it for years. Either way, it’s not career destroying.

Earlier this month, at the second Republican presidential debate, former Florida governor Jeb Bush admitted to smoking marijuana “40 years ago.” For those who remember former candidate Bill Clinton’s tortured claim that he had smoked pot but never inhaled, it’s a sign of how much the times have changed.

Medical marijuana is now legal in 23 states. In Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and the District of Columbia, you can legally toke up for purely recreational purposes. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, arrests for simple possession are on the rise, but otherwise, the drug has never been more mainstream.
