America now has a marijuana resort

Category: News | Posted on Sun, June, 14th 2015 by THCFinder

(NEWSER) – While $420 seems like a more appropriate price, starting at $395 per person per night, marijuana smokers can treat themselves to a cannabis-filled Colorado vacation. Dubbed "CannaCamp," the 170-acre resort in Durango does not hand out pot nor sell it on site but Time reports that its concierge will direct vacationers to area dispensaries; travelers can also bring their own. From there, guests can "experience the outdoors and cannabis in a safe, comfortable, and social environment," per the resort's site. That marijuana-filled environment doesn't include the cabins, though, which are smoke-free for safety reasons (porch smoking is allowed, notes the AP).

But pot permeates the rest of CannaCamp: There's a THC Fusion Cooking class, 4:20 Community Hour ("our version of Happy Hour"), cannabis yoga, cannabis-infused massages, cannabis pairing dinners ... and so on. And then there are the outdoors. AsMashable explains, most state and national parks prohibit toking, which makes CannaCamp's pot-friendly trails unusual. "We're bringing an element of luxury to that adventurous, exploratory vibe of childhood summer camp," is how Joel Schneider, CEO of the group behind the resort, frames it. CannaCamp opens July 1; reservations are being accepted now. (The world we live in now also includes marijuana K-cups.)

Sticky note can't convict in marijuana case, state Supreme Court rules

Category: News | Posted on Sat, June, 13th 2015 by THCFinder

All that stood between a mother of two young children and a felony drug record after an Oakland County narcotics team raided their home was a sticky note.

More specifically — how would the courts view this Holly Village woman who'd jotted a few words and a date on a small adhesive-backed note? The words were to remind her husband of when it would be time to harvest the medical marijuana that he used for a health condition.

The sticky note was found by narcotics agents who'd burst into the house in 2012, guns drawn, when Cynthia Ann Mazur, her husband and their two children were gone, according to court records.

In a case watched closely by medical-pot users, the Michigan Supreme Court this week reversed lower courts' decisions on what constitutes evidence regarding the sticky note. The Oakland County Circuit Court was poised to convict Mazur, 45.

But the state Supreme Court ruled 4-3 that Mazur's sticky note was not evidence that she'd violated state drug laws. Instead, the paper scrap constituted "legal drug paraphernalia," a category defined in the law as devices that facilitate the use of medical cannabis by a state-approved patient.

The 2015 Cannabis Business Summit And Expo Is Coming To Denver

Category: Events | Posted on Sat, June, 13th 2015 by THCFinder

cannabis business summit and expoI get e-mails and social media messages every day from people asking for advice about the growing marijuana industry. They want to know the trends, who to seek advice from, and opinions about their business ideas. I tell all of them the same thing – go to a reputable marijuana industry event. Sure, you can spend long hours trying to hunt down all of the marijuana industry leaders from various sectors, and trying to get them to respond to questions. However, I think you will find that most of the people that have the best advice are hard to reach because so many people are seeking their advice that they are likely speaking at an event.

Events are good too because you can network with other people that are pursuing similar dreams as yours. You can learn tips and tricks that they have learned along the way, as well as provide your own knowledge to people that are newer to the industry than yourself. Some people scoff at spending hundreds of dollars to attend an event. But what I always tell people is if you can’t spare hundreds of dollars to fine tune your skills and take your business idea to the next level, then chances are you likely won’t succeed in the industry.

There’s simply no other way to meet so many experts in one place, and be able to hear all of them speak on panels and keynote addresses. I can almost guarantee that if you attend a marijuana business event, you will learn things that you didn’t even know you needed to know. I have been running this blog for over five years, and I learn new things at every marijuana business event I attend. Part of that is because there are so many new ideas coming into the industry, and part of that is because the rules, regulations, and environment that surround the industry are constantly evolving. What is true one day may not still be true the next day.
