Boulder, Colorado — The cannabis boom is boosting more than dispensary traffic, grower income and state tax receipts — it also is hatching new cannabis brands at an intense pace.

The twelve months ending May 2016, for example, have seen the emergence of 93 new companies developing products in the concentrates and edibles subcategories of the cannabis industry, according to a BDS Analytics review of the Colorado cannabis marketplace. These include companies launching new edibles products, like lozenges and beverages, and companies seeking commercial success in the busy concentrates subcategory, which includes products like pre-filled vaporizer cartridges and different styles of cannabis concentrates.

It has been two years since Florida Governor Rick Scott put his signature on a modest bill legalizing low-THC cannabis products for the state’s seriously ill patients, an act that spawned more trials and tribulations than productivity, causing many of the people who qualify for the program to abandon all hope. However, the wait for medicine is apparently over – the state’s first medical marijuana dispensary is scheduled to open next week.

On Wednesday, the Florida Department of Heath gave permission to Trulieve, the state’s chosen cannabis company of the north, to begin selling medical marijuana in its Tallahassee dispensary and making deliveries to patients all over Florida. The dispensary will reportedly provide those people who qualify for participation in the program with non-smokeable cannabis products ranging from capsules to vapor liquids.

Judge to Hear Challenge of Marijuana Legalization Initiative

PHOENIX (AP) – Opponents of a campaign to legalize recreational marijuana in Arizona will urge a judge to bar the initiative from the November ballot.

Attorneys for Arizonans for Responsible Drug Policy will make their arguments Tuesday in a Phoenix courtroom. They argue in part that the citizen’s initiative should be blocked because the 100-word explanation on petition sheets doesn’t fully explain the effects of the proposed legalization.

The suit was brought by 13 individuals and groups including Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery and Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Polk.
