Elementary students rushed to hospital after eating marijuana-laced brownies

Category: News | Posted on Wed, March, 13th 2013 by THCFinder
Seven elementary school students are recovering in Costa Mesa after they took a bite of a marijuana brownie that a boy brought to school.

The kids are all aged 10 to 12.

Now, parents, school officials and police want to know where the boy got the pot-laced brownie.

Costa Mesa police say they’re talking with the parents of all seven kids who got sick from that brownie, including the parents of the boy who brought it to school.

Most of the children who went to the hospital with dizziness, vomiting and nausea, have been released to go home from the hospital.

Now begins an investigation into how that 5th-grader got a marijuana-laced brownie, which he shared with six other kids.

Minn. medical marijuana push to wait until 2014

Category: Medical Marijuana | Posted on Wed, March, 13th 2013 by THCFinder
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota won't have a showdown over medical marijuana this year.

Heather Azzi of Minnesotans for Compassionate Care, a pro-marijuana policy group, said Wednesday that bills to permit marijuana for medical reasons will be introduced in the next week or two. But Azzi, the group's political director, said the legislation won't move through Legislature this year.

"We just had a lot of background work to do before we got started," she said.

Supporters hope to latch onto efforts to relax marijuana laws in other states. Voters in Washington state and Colorado approved ballot measures last fall making it legal to possess small amounts of marijuana. It was a step beyond laws in 18 states that give people with certain conditions clearance to use marijuana after getting a physician's approval.

Medical marijuana proposals are circulating in at least a dozen states. Last week, Maryland's health secretary expressed support for legislation there, arguing the federal government has not brought charges against any state employees in other states who may have been involved with distributing medical marijuana.

New Mexico passes bill that lowers penalties for Marijuana possession

Category: News | Posted on Wed, March, 13th 2013 by THCFinder
SANTA FE —Adults possessing less than 8 ounces of marijuana in New Mexico would no longer receive any jail time under a bill passed Monday by the House.

The House voted 37-33 in favor of House Bill 465, sponsored by Rep. Emily Kane, D-Albuquerque. The bill would reduce penalties for possession of up to 4 ounces to a civil penalty with increasing fines while eliminating the potential for jail time for any amount up to 8 ounces.

"Spending $5 million a year to arrest people with small amounts of marijuana is a waste of resources," Kane said during the three-hour debate on the bill. "We could put that money to better use."
