DEA Pressures Armored Truck Companies To Quit Working With Medical Marijuana Dipsensaries

Category: News | Posted on Sat, August, 24th 2013 by THCFinder
dea-armored-trucksThe DEA Has Done Everything That It Can Think Of To Make The Medical Marijuana Industry ‘Cash Only’ Without Security Services
The DEA is getting craftier in their war against medical marijuana. Multiple reports came out today that armored security services are discontinuing business with medical marijuana dispensaries, citing ‘pressure from the DEA.’ Most security system services won’t work with medical marijuana dispensaries, credit card companies won’t work with medical marijuana dispensaries, banks won’t work with medical marijuana dispensaries, there’s the 280e tax issue, and now of course you can add armored truck companies to that list.
That is a pretty hard core environment for any business to operate in. Medical marijuana dispensaries can basically only accept cash, can’t store the cash in the bank, can’t have a reliable way to transport that cash safely, and unless you use a new start up ‘cannabis only’ security company, there will be no alarm if someone breaks into the medical marijuana dispensary to steal the cash (or whatever else). All of this of course occurring in states that have state laws recognizing the legality of medical marijuana dispensaries…Why does the federal government hate medical marijuana so much?
From the Huffington Post ,one of my marijuana heroes Tom Angell from the Marijuana Majority:
“The president says he has bigger fish to fry than go after individual users, but at nearly every step, his administration has tried to make it so those users are unable to purchase marijuana through safe and regulated means…By pressuring banks not to do business with dispensaries, the federal government ensures that many of these taxpaying businesses have to become cash-only, increasing the chances of robberies.”

181 Apply To Open Mass. Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

Category: Dispensaries | Posted on Fri, August, 23rd 2013 by THCFinder
mmj-dispensaries-medicalMore than 100 people or groups of business partners submitted applications on Thursday to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to open medical marijuana dispensaries, according to DPH Commissioner Cheryl Bartlett.
“We’re glad that it was a highly competitive process and it will ensure patients’ access to the medical use of marijuana in the commonwealth,” Bartlett said during a conference call.
Thursday was the only day prospective entrepreneurs could submit applications for the first phase of the dispensary approval process. A steady stream of people entered DPH headquarters on Washington Street in downtown Boston, wheeling suitcases or carrying boxes or large envelopes of documents.
Investment banker Arnon Vered of Swampscott was one of them. He and business partner Kevin Fisher, who owns a dispensary in Colorado, submitted applications for three dispensaries they hope to open in Norfolk, Bristol and Hampshire counties.
“When I started, I knew very little about this,” Vered said. “But when I started talking to patients and seeing people who are actually using [medical marijuana], kind of the impact that it has on their lives, that really made me want to be involved in this.”
Fisher says the high “financial barriers to entry,” specifically the requirement to prove $500,000 in liquid capital to start a dispensary, will result in applicants ensuring they bring in whatever expertise is necessary to run a successful center.
John Greene hopes his experience as an herbalist will help him get approved to operate up to three dispensaries in Plymouth County. He says he wants to focus on providing strains of marijuana that have low levels of “euphoric” or “psychoactive” properties that contribute to the “stoner ethos” many people still attribute to anything involving marijuana.

People who use marijuana are less aggressive

Category: Medical Marijuana | Posted on Fri, August, 23rd 2013 by THCFinder
weed-smokers-non-aggressiveA new study on marijuana seems to prove, once and for all, that people who use the drug are less aggressive, even helping users to get along with people better.
Click here for the full study.
While those are desirable outcomes Dr. Peter Winsauer, Professor of Pharmacology at the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine says as in all things in science, "It's not that simple. Marijuana and the cannabinoids compounds that have been used, and discovered in recent years, have both positive and negative effects."
But these finding, published by the journal Neuropharmacology, he says can potentially help with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and there have been other discoveries at LSU Health Sciences Center leading to possible marijuana treatments for MS and HIV, where the benefits outweigh the many negative effects of the drug..
But smoking it he says is not the best delivery method. "Ideally we would administer it in another form, other than smoking." He says smoke in the lungs can cause a whole host of other issues.
