Tech's Lax Analysis Raises Questions on His 7,800 Drug Cases

Category: News | Posted on Sun, March, 6th 2016 by THCFinder

LITTLE FALLS, N.J. (AP) -- The New Jersey attorney general's office has notified prosecutors that a lab technician failed to properly analyze evidence in a drug case, calling into question more than 7,800 criminal cases he's worked on over the last decade.

Division of Criminal Justice director Elie Honig wrote in a memo last week that Kamal Shah was observed spending insufficient time analyzing a substance to determine if it was marijuana. Honig says Shah recorded an anticipated result without properly conducting the analysis.

Shah worked in the drug unit of the state police's North Regional Laboratory.

A spokesman for the attorney general's office says Shah hasn't been charged. He wouldn't say whether Shah is under criminal investigation.

Shah was suspended without pay in January. He couldn't be reached for comment.

Supreme Court may decide on Colorado marijuana legalization case

Category: News | Posted on Sat, March, 5th 2016 by THCFinder

The U.S. Supreme Court may be nearing a decision on whether to hear a case brought against Colorado by two neighboring states over marijuana legalization.

Supreme Court justices were scheduled to meet privately Friday to discuss the case, which was filed in 2014 by the attorneys general in Nebraska and Oklahoma.

The justices won't have decided at the meeting whether to upend legalization in Colorado, as the lawsuit requests. Instead, the justices must decide first whether even to take up the case.

Their decision could be announced as early as Monday. But Sam Kamin, a professor at the University of Denver who specializes in marijuana law and who has followed the lawsuit closely, said there are no guarantees the justices even got around to talking about the case Friday. The court twice before had scheduled to discuss the case at conferences, only for the discussion to be pushed back.

Arkansans For Compassionate Care Have Gathered Over 60K Signatures

Category: Medical Marijuana | Posted on Sat, March, 5th 2016 by THCFinder

Arkansas medical marijuanaI received the following uplifting campaign update from Arkansans for Compassionate Care, which is an organization that is trying to legalize medical marijuana in Arkansas:

Last Tuesday at the polls our team of volunteers collected over 4,000 medical cannabis signatures in one day! It was an amazing day of action that helped take our campaign to the next level. Arkansans for Compassionate Care had dozens of volunteers working in cities like Little Rock, Fayetteville, Rogers, El Dorado, Fort Smith, Jonesboro and more!

The next few months are critical to us making the ballot, but we need YOUR help to make that happen. Can you make a donation today to help us keep our momentum going?

2016 is the year that we will pass medical cannabis and finally protect sick and dying patients from arrest and prosecution. Since we now have 61,107 signatures we’re much closer to reaching our goal of more than 100,000. We need 68,000 valid signatures to qualify for the ballot, but since many signatures will be invalidated we need to overshoot our goal. In the next 4 months we’re going to be working hard to collect another 40,000 signatures. We can do this, but we’ll need YOUR help!

Can you donate today?

It takes resources and money to make this happen and that’s why we’re counting on YOU to help us with a contribution today and ask a friend to donate too! Any amount helps! Please share on Facebook too!
