Uruguay President Nominated For Nobel Prize For Legalizing Marijuana

Category: News | Posted on Fri, February, 7th 2014 by THCFinder
nobel-prizeUruguay President José Mujica has been nominated for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize, with supporters of his nomination citing his work on legalizing cannabis as the primary factor.

Earlier this year the Uruguay President gained international fame when his nation became the first country in the world to legalize recreational cannabis, a move that Mujica not only supported, but introduced himself.

The move, which has already been officially approved into law (signed by Mujica in December), and simply awaits full implementation, legalizes cannabis possession and cultivation for anyone 18 and older, and authorizes government-run cannabis clubs to distribute cannabis (pharmacies will be allowed to distribute cannabis to patients).

Mujica’s candidacy was submitted by the left-wing political party Frente Amplio, and an unnamed German non-government organization, with added support from a Dutch organization called the Drugs Peace Institute.

“I’m very thankful to these people for honoring me,” Mujica said in a response to his nomination. “We are only proposing the right to try another path because the path of repression doesn’t work.”

Children At Risk Due To Medibles?

Category: Culture | Posted on Fri, February, 7th 2014 by THCFinder
cannabis-edibles-medibles
If you've seen some of the edibles packing, you'll understand why a child might confuse a medicated brownie with a normal one. They don't understand the writing so that won't stop them from trying to eat it. There are parents, doctors, and school workers that are upset about the fact that medicated treats seem to be getting in to the hands of children more often then not in the state of Colorado.

It was reported from Children's Hospital Colorado that there were 14 children that were seen in the emergency department between October 2009 through December 2011. Before the year 2009, there were no reports of children ingesting marijuana. The kids that did eat marijuana infused food were said to be sleepy and slightly disoriented and one was reported to have trouble breathing. Since eating cannabis has such a different effect then smoking it and children are so much smaller, it's difficult for their small bodies to handle the high doses of THC that some medicated treats contain.

There was one young girl named Evelyn Hernandez, age 2, who was playing on the lawn of her family's apartment building and stumbled upon a cookie in the grass. She managed to get in a few bites before her mother took the cookie away. A few hours later, the little girl was drowsy and having trouble walking by herself. The parents took her to the hospital and she tested positive for THC. The young girl is fine now and seems to have suffered no ill effects from eating the medicated cookie.

If you do purchase medicated treats, it is very important to keep them out of reach of children. Colorado is trying to push through new packaging that will make the treats very difficult for a child to get to but sometimes, the treats are dropped or left unattended and unwrapped where a child could get a hold of them. It's important to keep all kinds of medication away from children, unless they're using it under doctor supervision.

Cannabis Valentine's Chocolates Recipe

valentines-day-recipe
With Valentine's Day almost upon us, getting your significant other the right gift can be a bummer. But if you're feeling motivated to make someone really happy, this recipe for cannabis chocolates are perfect for you. You can get any kind of mold you want for these, including ones shaped like weed leaves. Or you can simply just take the simple way and make them in a circular shape or in bars!

What You'll Need;
1 ounce chopped nuts
1/4 ounce cannabis
6 ounces dark chocolate

Using a coffee grinder, chop up the weed so that it's a fine powder. Set it aside. Break the chocolate in to pieces and place it in to a glass microwaveable bowl. Heat the chocolate in the microwave for about 30 seconds and then stir in your powdered cannabis. Place the chocolate back in the microwave and heat it on high for 30 more seconds. Continue this process until the chocolate has been fully melted and the cannabis powder has been completely stirred in.

Once the chocolate has been fully melted, you can add in nuts, fruits, or other candies like M&Ms or Reese's Pieces. Use the mold that you've chosen and pour the chocolatey mix in. Allow them to reharden (I recommend putting them in the fridge if you're in a hurry!) and then wrap them as you wish. You can totally buy one of those heat boxes and replace all of the chocolates with weed candy. Pair that with a blunt and you have a great Valentine's Day present for the person you love and love to smoke with! Enjoy!
