Fake News Site Sparks Concern with Outrageous Marijuana Claim

The “Weird News” section of the Huffington Post recently reported on a fake news story that stated four people had died and 49 were hospitalized after consuming bad weed or edibles in Colorado.

But don’t believe it.

The Boston Tribune, which published the hysterical story, is a fake newspaper, according to Snopes and, therefore, so is the story.

Snopes, a highly-respected resource for validating and debunking stories of unknown or questionable origin, listed the phony newspaper among sites that “appear to be legitimate local news bearing shocking (but fake) stories.”

Although groups of people socializing and using cannabis is still heavily stigmatized, it is the cultural norm to bring a bottle of wine and have a drink when getting together with friends after dark. Adults drink alcohol in social settings to relax, unwind and be more open to new things. Well, cannabis enthusiasts are saying the same thing about marijuana—that rather than an anti-social, laziness-inducing substance, cannabis takes the edge off and enhances social experiences.

Initiative to Legalize Cannabis Endorsed by Arizona Democratic Party

The Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol announced today their initiative to legalize cannabis (Proposition 205) has been officially endorsed by the Arizona Democratic Party. The endorsement comes roughly a month prior to the measure being voted on in the November 8th election.

The campaign also announced that U.S. Representative Raul Grijalva (AZ-3) became the second member of Arizona’s congressional delegation endorse the initiative, joining Representative Ruben Gallego (AZ-7). The legalization initiative also received endorsements from nearly a dozen state legislators, two members of the Tucson City Council, two members of the Tempe City Council, a member of the Maricopa City Council, as well as Las Adelitas Arizona, a Latina-focused civic engagement organization.
