Canadian Government To Put $1.3 Billion Into Medical Cannabis Production And Distribution

Starting Tuesday, Canada’s federal government will be launching a $1.3 billion market for medical cannabis, which is expected to eventually supply over 450,000 Canadians with cannabis, reports the Canadian Press.
Health Canada is replacing a system which relied on small-scale, home cultivation to supply medical cannabis, in exchange for a system of large indoor farms certified by Canadian police. Health inspectors will be tasked with the production, packaging and distribution of a variety of cannabis.
Initial sales under this new program are expected in the next few weeks.
The government will be putting no limit on the number of large grow operations that are in operation; they plan to base production on demand. The government is also expected to import some cannabis from places such as the Netherlands.
156 firms have already applied to become a producer or distributor. The first two received their licences last week.
Canada currently has 37,400 authorized medical cannabis patients, but officials expect that number to be closer to half a million by 2024; these estimates are considered to be conservative.
Health Canada projects that cannabis will be sold at an average of $7.60 a gram by next year, once the old system is phased out.

Dabs; Good or Bad?
Category: Medical Marijuana | Posted on Mon, September, 30th 2013 by THCFinder
If you don't know what dabs are, you're definitely behind the times on what's going on in the cannabis word. Dabs are a form of concentrated THC that is smoked. It is called numerous names, just like our dear Mary Jane (wax, shatter, oil, errl, etc). Unfortunately for those who indulge in this new form of getting stoned, parents and anti-marijuana campaigners are making dabs out to be the new heroin.
I have never tried to dab. It is not something that I am interested in, mostly because I have seen the results of badly made oil that looks like chunks of tar taken directly off of the road. Dabs are normally made with butane, which extracts the THC from the flowers and creates the concentrate, which can range from 70-90% THC. The concentrate can also be made with ice and water but takes a bit more effort but produces a MUCH better and much more desire result; ice wax.
The benefits of dabs include the following; They don't smell like weed does. Everyone who's transported weed in their car knows that that shit stinks. It's potent and cops can sniff it out better than doughnuts. Dabs don't give off that unmistakable odor. Another benefit is that since the THC is so concentrated, there is no need to have large amounts on you. It makes it easier to hide the substance in a purse or pocket. The best benefit (I think) is the fact that there are devices available to smoke dabs out of that are easily mistaken for an e-cigarette. Law enforcement won't know if you're exhaling water vapor or THC.
Now for the negative side. Whenever peoples tolerance to a drug gets too high, they seem to want to create something stronger to get the desired effect. While it may make sense to us as stoners, others don't see it that way. The making of dabs is extremely dangerous and should only EVER be attempted by a person who knows exactly what they are doing. There are numerous reports from all over the place of stupid kids trying to make BHO inside their house and blowing themselves up. Does that sound like meth to anyone else? That's how the anti-marijuana people view it. Uneducated kids are making the mistake of turning marijuana in to something that's actually harmful.
As I stated earlier, the area I live in does not produce quality shatter and I've seen severe butane headaches and people completely unable to function because they're literally too stoned. I'm not about that at all and would rather wait to try dabs when I have the opportunity to get well made product. Unfortunately, at this point in time, I think that it is a serious issue in the marijuana community. While the majority of stoners are getting higher than ever, there are people getting hurt trying to make this stuff. Obviously, since we know the conditions needed to produce this product, we have an inside perspective. Parents of the children who have hurt themselves by making BHO see it very differently than we do and will continue to use arguments like this against marijuana legalization.

Marijuana has been a staple in my life for the past six years. It helps with my anxiety, eating, sleeping, and most important of all, it gives me the ability to handle the people that I deal with at work. For four years, I've been a bartender in a colorful variation of establishments. Since I don't drink alcohol and don't particularly care for it, dealing with drunk coworkers and even drunker patrons gets extremely old after a while. It's become a routine for me to get as stoned as I possibly can before heading to the bar because let's face it, drunk people get annoying when you're sober... And they get annoying fast.
I've perfected the art of being baked at work and I figured that I would share some of these tips with you in case you're like me as I'm sure most of you are. Working stoned can be extremely scary when you're not used to it. I used to avoid smoking before work because I was petrified that my boss would find out. These days, I'm pretty sure that all three of my bosses know that I'm a huge stoner and write for both THCFinder and Stonerdays. They even read the articles I put out.
The key to working stoned is to just always act stoned. Staying in the mindset that I'm still high seems to work for me. When I first started at my current job, I learned that this method is perfect. Thinking that you're stoned with create the placebo effect almost... If you think it hard enough, your eyes will still hang low and you'll pull off that slow smile that stoners have adopted as their trademark. It will help you slip under the radar of annoying bosses that have nothing better to do than wonder if all of their employees are on drugs.
Sometimes, being stoned at work is the only way to make it through a day. It even becomes necessary to smoke at work occasionally. Just make sure that you're still accomplishing the things that are required. Being a fully functioning stoner only proves that marijuana isn't the laziest drug ever and not all of us are slackers. By being able to function while stoned just shows how well we can manage ourselves! People take medicine at work all the time and I believe that people who use marijuana for medical reasons should be able to as well! Just keep looking permafried! ;)
