Denvers anti-marijuana-smell proposal nearly snuffed out

Category: News | Posted on Wed, October, 16th 2013 by THCFinder
denvers-anti-smell-proposalThe proposed city ordinance in Denver that would re-criminalize possession of marijuana in some public places and impose a year in jail and $999 fine for marijuana smell got what seemed to be a pretty cool reception today.
A council committee there took up the ordinance, beat it up and promised to revisit it, likely significantly redrafted, sometime down the road.
What’s it matter to Seattle/Washington and The Pot Blog?
The proposed rules came about as backlash to open use of marijuana in the city and lingering concerns about the social issues legal pot brings up: How kids will perceive marijuana use, whether its use will degrade the business climate downtown and if people will have to live with the smell of pot the next time they throw a birthday party for their kid in a park …
Consequently, it seems prudent to expect efforts to curtail marijuana use here as the legal system comes on board, the legal marijuana market gets underway and people see and smell it more.

Weed Prices Affect Amount Of Medicine For Patients Everywhere

Category: Medical Marijuana | Posted on Tue, October, 15th 2013 by THCFinder
weed-prices-for-mmjSince every state is in a different place in the process of growing the best bud, those who smoke suffer at the mercy of the place where they get their weed. With prices all over varying from the rock bottom price of $25 an eighth to $90 for the same amount. The average cost of 3.5 grams seems to be somewhere around $55. Paying for weed is kind of a bummer at all, considering it's a plant and anyone should be allowed to grow it.
A lot of stoners say that the price of their bud is a huge impact on the amount they're smoke. Let's face it, before we're smokers, we have to be responsible adults. Bills and food come before weed (hopefully) so there are a lot of people who don't get enough of the medicine they need. They can't afford it. It's also a matter of who you know in your state. A friend that sells bud is sure to hook up his closest buddies before those that he doesn't really hang out with.
Of course, for those in illegal states, it's much worse. Since the risk of growing is so much higher, the weed must be transported in. This effects cost greatly because transporting marijuana across state lines is a serious offense. States such as certain areas of New Jersey, where the price of 3.5 grams is $90, the marijuana market is cripplingly expensive. The weed is barely affordable and stoners must cut back drastically. With high prices like this, it's sad to say that smoking would have to take a backseat for most people, especially in this economy.
In the legal states, the prices are as low as $25 for an eighth. Not only that but patients are allowed to grow their. A lot of smokers out there don't even need to pay for weed, just pay attention to their plants. While growing is difficult, it begins to save you large amounts of money, especially if you're buying a $50 eighth every few days and your weed smoking costs you $400 a month. When you think about it that way, it makes more sense to grow your own. Then, you know where the bud is coming from and you can grow whatever strain you want. In some places, $400 a month is rent or at least most of the other bills that stoners pay.
We can only hope that someday, all of our bud prices will be somewhere around the same. Preferably the $25 amount that some people enjoy. Unfortunately for now, a lot of us will have to continue to pay somewhere around $50 for an eighth of bud. Being able to afford bud is definitely a problem for a lot of patients that are still living in illegal states. The push for legalization will hopefully reach the states with the most expensive bud soon, so that patients will be able to get what they need.

China Glass Vs German Glass

Category: Glass | Posted on Tue, October, 15th 2013 by THCFinder
I've stressed multiple times that picking glass is extremely important in the life of a stoner. Glass describes your personality. Whether it's sleek, complex, or colorful, the glass that you pick is important. Respect it because someone worked very hard to make it... Hopefully. As there are many different glass companies out there, as well as numerous single glass workers, there's a lot of room for cheaply made glass to flood the market, imitating the well made pieces. This happens far too often and you should know where your glass comes from. It has a great deal of effect on the quality of the smoke you get from the piece.
Germans are known for their crafty engineering and that knowledge doesn't stop at glass. The pieces that come from Germany are thick, heavy, and durable. The glass lasts long and looks extremely nice when clean. It is well put together and very well known for being so. Roor bongs are some of the most expensive (and well worth it) pieces on the market. People pay for quality work. Don't let the companies fool you. If you've ever hold a real German or US made piece, it usually has been made with quality.
Glass that is mass produced in China is cheap. It's extremely thin and very easy to break. Unfortunately, the drug laws regarding cannabis in China are very strict. Since the laws are so strict and enforced so rigorously, there really is no glass scene. The people making these pieces aren't able to innovate their own technology like the companies in the US and in Germany. Therefore, the pieces are just copies of what has already been produced. The pieces are assembled to look like quality glass pieces that get sold for $400 each.
Mass produced products are very easy to tell from the real thing. The letters will either be a sticker or a crude marking, rather than the normally sleek labeling by the US and the Germans. Well made glass should be heavy, with little to no seam lines. The label on it should be tough, sandblasted or a very durable sticker.
The best way to tell if a pipe is the real deal and not some knock off? Make sure that you buy it at a legit shop. Most head shops hang signs that state that they are authorized dealers of higher end glass, such as Roor. Another hint; don't buy your glass at the gas station if you're looking for something quality. But I will say that having a piece that you don't pay a lot for can be very beneficial at parties. After all, someone is bound to think that your knockoff is legit when they've had a few beers, am I right?
