DEA pretends not to be involved in U.S. marijuana enforcement

I found this mildly interesting. DEA director Michele Leonhart is testifying before Congress today on the DEA budget. I took a look at her prepared remarks, and was struck by the lack of any reference to what is going on in the United States regarding cannabis.
There were three references to marijuana in her speech: a reference to the various kinds of drugs seized in Mexico; a reference to non-medical prescription drug use being second only to marijuana; and a reference to synthetic cannabinoids.
Nothing about medical marijuana. Nothing about marijuana legalization efforts. Nothing about Colorado or Washington. Absolute silence.
Wonder how much of this is about the White House still not wanting to discuss legalization, and how much from the DEA recognizing that to discuss domestic marijuana today is akin to opening the discussion about the future relevance of the DEA.

T.I., Jamie Foxx Named In Marijuana Lawsuit Against Universal Music
Category: Celebrities | Posted on Fri, April, 12th 2013 by THCFinder
A former security guard at Universal Music Publishing Group has filed suit against her former employer for allowing the use of marijuana by artists and executives on site.
The plaintiff – an anonymous 41-year-old woman – says that members of UMPG’s Santa Monica office and the building’s management “turned a blind eye” to drug use on the company’s premises. She alleges that T.I., Jamie Foxx, MC Ren, Macy Gray, Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine as well as some UMPG executives “began visiting the premises with drugs in hand and oftentimes offer[ed] drugs to Plaintiff, which she refused.”
The plaintiff also indicates that she was subject to racial slurs and forced to contend with a sexually-explicit work environment.
“UMPG employees were complaining about finding bras hanging in the studio and people being found passed out in the showers after partying and drug use,” the suit reads. “[The] Plaintiff found condoms plastered in the men’s bathroom while on patrol. She began witnessing UMPG employees engaged in intimate touching and grinding, involving buttocks and genitalia.”
The unknown plaintiff is claiming anonymity under California’s whistle-blower law. She is seeking an unspecified amount for discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination after issuing complaints regarding the use of drugs in the building.
