Montel Williams blasts ad opposing medical use of marijuana

Category: Celebrities | Posted on Fri, October, 19th 2012 by THCFinder
An outspoken medical marijuana proponent, talk-show host Montel Williams lashed out this week at an Arkansas ad against a ballot proposal, calling it "racist."

According to CBS affiliate KHTV in Little Rock, Williams told a crowd in the Arkansas capital Thursday that the 30-second spot opposing a ballot initiative that would legalize the use of marijuana for medical purposes is "the most egregiously false, racist statement you've ever seen in your life."

In the ad, paid for by the Family Council Action Committee, a black man is shown dealing drugs as the narrator talks about "dope dealers" taking advantage of the measure.

Jerry Cox of the Family Council told the TV station the ad is accurate and said drug dealers know more than anyone else about marijuana.

The ballot measure, if approved, would make the Arkansas first southern state to legalize medical marijuana. It is opposed by the Arkansas Pharmacists Association. The state's Sheriffs' Association also said it plans to oppose the measure.

Williams, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, admitted the issue is a personal one. "For me, cannabis became a choice that my doctor and I had to make," he said. He has been campaigning for the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes for more than a decade.

Nelly Detained: Cops Uncover Heroin, Marijuana Aboard Rapper's Bus

Category: Celebrities | Posted on Fri, October, 12th 2012 by THCFinder
More trouble in Celebrity Drugville: Rapper Nelly was detained in Texas Wednesday night after police officers uncovered a bounty of drugs and a loaded gun on his tour bus.

TMZ reports that the 37-year-old "Hot in Herre" singer was passing through the Sierra Blanca border patrol -- the same tricky checkpoint 30 miles north of Mexico where Fiona Apple, Willie Nelson, Armie Hammer and Snoop Dogg also got drug-busted -- when a police canine indicated that there were drugs aboard the vehicle. Law enforcement sources then found a whopping stash of illegal substances, including 36 small bags of heroin, 10 pounds of marijuana and a .45 caliber pistol.

All seven passengers of the tour bus were detained. Nelly (whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes, Jr.) and five others were released after passenger Brian Keith Jones claimed that he was in sole possession of the drugs and gun aboard. The rapper is set to perform in Austin, Texas, next month as part of the COTA Austin fan Fest with peers Flo Rida and Enrique Iglesias.

How Fiona Apple was caught carrying hashish in West Texas

Category: Celebrities | Posted on Fri, September, 21st 2012 by THCFinder
Singer-songwriter Fiona Apple was arrested for hashish possession at a West Texas Border Patrol checkpoint after a drug-sniffing dog detected marijuana in her tour bus.

Hudspeth County sheriff's office spokesman Rusty Fleming told the Associated Press on Thursday that Apple spent Wednesday night in the county jail in Sierra Blanca. Apple was released Thursday after posting bail.

Country singer Willie Nelson, rapper Snoop Dogg and actor Armand "Armie" Hammer also have been arrested in Sierra Blanca on marijuana charges.

Hammer was arrested on Nov. 20, 2011. The 25-year-old, who starred with Leonardo DiCaprio in "J. Edgar," spent about a day in jail before paying a $1,000 bond. El Paso's district attorney declined to prosecute because a felony requires more than 4 ounces of actual marijuana, reported The Dallas Morning News.

In Apple's arrest, Mr. Fleming said that after the dog alerted the Border Patrol agent, the artist's bus was searched. Police found the drugs in a backpack — about four grams of marijuana and a plastic bag with about four grams of a clay-like substance that tested positive for hashish were stored in a glass container, the sheriff's office said in a press release.

Apple admitted the drugs were hers, the release said.

The Sierra Blanca checkpoint inspects thousands of vehicles daily and sends the county thousands of drug cases yearly.

Apple "had a little tiny amount of pot and hash," Fleming said. While marijuana possession in small amounts is a misdemeanor, the Texas Controlled Substance Act says possession of hashish in any quantity is a felony.

Lady Gaga & Weed: Singer Lights Up On Stage

Category: Celebrities | Posted on Wed, September, 19th 2012 by THCFinder
At a Tuesday performance in Amsterdam, Lady Gaga took a moment to catch her breath -- a deep breath. The singer sat at the edge of the stage, where a box of cigarrettes appeared. She found that unappealing, but was quite excited when a plastic bag containing marijuana and a lighter was thrown her way.

"Holland, is it real?" Gaga asked in a vague accent before smelling the spliff and confirming that it was, in fact, marijuana. Then she lit up the joint and took a few hits. But worry not! Gaga said that the few puffs were "not enough" to get her high.

She did, however, say she's a big fan of "wondrous marijuana." "I want you to know it has totally changed my life and I've really cut down on drinking," Mother Monster said. "It has been a totally spiritual experience for me with my music."
