Morgan Freeman On Marijuana: Criminalization Of Weed Is 'Stupidest Law Possible'

Category: Celebrities | Posted on Thu, July, 19th 2012 by THCFinder

Morgan Freeman is a long-time advocate of marijuana legalization, a point he recently reiterated in a wide-ranging interview with Newsweek.

Here's what the "Dark Knight Rises" actor had to say on the issue:

Marijuana! Heavens, oh yeah. It’s just the stupidest law possible, given history. You don’t stop people from doing what they want to do, so forget about making it unlawful. You’re just making criminals out of people who aren’t engaged in criminal activity. And we’re spending zillions of dollars trying to fight a war we can’t win! We could make zillions, just legalize it and tax it like we do liquor. It’s stupid.

Tommy Chong on The Joe Rogan Experience

Category: Celebrities | Posted on Thu, July, 12th 2012 by THCFinder

Comedy legend Tommy Chong was recently on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, one of the most popular podcasts in the world. For almost three hours he talks about bodybuilding, prison, history, life, love, weed and more.

The Joe Rogan podcast is one of the longest-form free-flowing discussion shows that you’ll find anywhere. If you love Tommy Chong, you will rarely hear him speak in-depth on as many subjects as in the video below.

Part of the comedy legend duo Cheech and Chong, Tommy has been entertaining audiences for decades and is currently using hemp oil to treat his recently diagnosed prostate cancer (http://www.thcfinder.com/marijuana-blog/celebrities/2012/06/tommy-chong-announces-he-has-prostate-cancer).

"I've got prostate cancer, and I'm treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis," Tommy told Don Lemon from CNN. "So (legalizing marijuana) means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested."

Tommy describes his prostate cancer "as a slow stage one (that I've) had for a long time." There is no word yet as to how Tommy’s announcement might affect his future career plans. For now it’s enough to hope that Tommy gets well.

Thank you Tommy for all you have done and continue to do to entertain us and fight for marijuana law reform.

Snoop Dogg detained at Norway airport for being in possession of marijuana, too much cash

Category: Celebrities | Posted on Thu, June, 28th 2012 by THCFinder
Snoop Dogg got busted by a drug dog in Norway Thursday morning.

The self-proclaimed cannabis connoisseur was packing 8 grams of marijuana when he was detained in customs at Kjevic Airport in Kristiansand.

Authorities discovered the sneaky stash when one of their customs drug dogs was released in the arrivals area and made a beeline for the superstar rapper.

Customs officers said they didn’t recognize the megastar at first and found him to be polite and cooperative, showing “no prima donna whims,” according to Norway’s Verdens Gang newspaper.

Because his stowed-away sensimilla was a small amount, Snoop was fined about $1,980 and released.

He was slapped with another fine of about $7,000 for carrying more cash than is legally allowed.

Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, is scheduled to perform in Norway Thursday night at the Hove Festival in the southern town of Kristiansand.

Shortly after the bust, the 40-year-old rapper posted a photo on Twitter that appeared to show him passing a joint.

"Smoking crip n. cuzns. Hahahahagahhaha,” read the caption.

The airport incident was the rapper’s second drug bust this year alone.

He was cited for possession of marijuana possession in Sierra Blanca, Texas, in January after authorities said they found several joints on his bus.

Tommy Chong Treats His Prostate Cancer With Cannabis

Category: Celebrities | Posted on Tue, June, 12th 2012 by THCFinder
Actor-comedian Tommy Chong, one-half of the pot-loving pair “Cheech and Chong,” said he’s treating his “slow stage-one” prostate cancer with his favorite plant.

“I’ve got prostate cancer, and I’m treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis,” Chong, 74, told CNN Saturday. “So [legalizing marijuana] means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested.”

Chong told the news site that he was diagnosed with the illness about a month ago, but he first experienced symptoms of the cancer about eight years ago while in jail after selling drug paraphernalia.

He no longer smokes marijuana because of “health reasons,” he told CNN, and he consumes the hemp oil at night so he “won’t be woozy all day.”

Cannabis has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to relieve symptoms of nausea and vomiting, and to help increase appetite in people with cancer and AIDS, according to the American Cancer Society. The most potent ingredient of medical marijuana is THC. The product comes in the form of an inhaler, pills and oil and it can also be smoked.

There are no other drugs that work as well as cannabis for treating the nausea and anorexia associated with cancer and its treatments, Dr. Donna Seger, associate professor of clinical medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn., told ABCNews.com in March.

It is unclear whether Chong has undergone chemotherapy or other treatments for the cancer, but treatment of stage 1 prostate cancer, which is only found in the prostate,  is often approached by the “watchful waiting” technique, when doctors allow time to pass to see the progression of the disease before they suggest surgery or medical intervention.

At least one doctor believes Chong’s promoting his self-described treatment is a disservice to other men with the disease.

“As a comedian, this is a really funny skit,” said Dr. Leonard G. Gomella, chairman of the department of urology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. “As a public figure who can get a forum, it is irresponsible. Had he been suffering from widely metastatic disease with bone pain and other devastations, perhaps there may be a role, but not for early disease.”
