Football Hall Of Famer Applies For Medical Marijuana Dispensary License

Jonathan Ogden, retired Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle, has applied for a medical marijuana dispensary license in Nevada, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. There are a limited number of licenses available in Nevada, so it is still unclear whether or not Ogden will own a dispensary.
One hundred and nine other companies have filed applications, and only 66 will be licensed this year, 40 of which will reside in Las Vegas (Clark county) where Ogden has applied. Applicants must also show they have $250,000 in liquid assets and have a licensed physician as the medical director to apply.
Hopefully, the NFL will feel the pressure of having Hall of Fame leaders like Ogden publicly support medical marijuana. The NFL’s stance on medical marijuana hasn’t evolved to the same extent as that of the nation at large, and the organization still imposes strict laws on players via steep fines and suspensions. However, with the NBA and NCAA rethinking their marijuana-use policies, perhaps, the NFL will move in the direction of acceptance.
Tommy Chong To Get His Own Brand Of Marijuana In Colorado

In a move that seems to be a no-brainer, a marijuana store in Pueblo, Colorado has entered into an agreement with Tommy Chong to use his name and product endorsements at their store. The deal includes a marijuana strain that will be developed and named after Tommy Chong, as well as other products.
The store that Tommy Chong is partnering up with is called ‘Marisol Therapeutics’, which I’m assuming is going to see a huge increase in business due to the partnership they have with Tommy Chong. It’s reported that the strain and products carrying the Tommy Chong brand will be high CBD related. This is great news for people that want the medical benefits of CBD. Although, I wish there was another strain bred for high THC. I guess only time will tell if that happens.
This is not the first time that Tommy Chong has done endorsements with the marijuana industry. The first one that comes to mind for me was the now infamous ‘Chong Bongs’ that he did in the early 2000′s. That endorsement deal resulted in Tommy Chong serving a stint in prison, even though he didn’t make them. Hopefully the feds don’t try to make an example out of him again due to his new deal.
Contrary to initial reports, Tommy Chong does not own Marisol Therapeutics, nor is he an investor in the shop. Colorado law requires all investments in marijuana businesses be made by someone who has been a Colorado resident for at least two years. I won’t be surprised to see more marijuana celebrities getting endorsement deals. If anyone wants to create a ‘Johnny Green’ line of products, feel free to contact me. Although, I don’t think I’ll bring 1/100th of the star power that Tommy Chong does
Allstar Blake Griffin Endorses Medical Marijuana Use In The NBA
Category: Celebrities | Posted on Thu, April, 17th 2014 by THCFinder
In an interview with Rolling Stone yesterday, Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers voiced his support of medical marijuana use to treat pain in the NBA. Currently, the NBA has strict penalties for drug use, which typically lead to suspensions and fines. It was only in 2011 that the NBA stopped testing for marijuana use in the off-season, but now that marijuana is in the limelight, its place in the NBA, as a form of medical treatment for pain, has come into question.
Griffin was asked:
The NFL might let players use medical marijuana to treat pain. If you had a vote, would the NBA do the same?
It doesn’t really affect me, but so many guys would probably benefit from it and not take as many painkillers, which have worse long-term effects. So I would vote yes. I just think it makes sense.
Griffin joins the chorus of other outspoken athletes like Larry Sanders of the Milwaukee Bucks, who said earlier this year, “I believe in marijuana and the medical side of it.”
Like any professional sport, the need for painkillers is a part of the game, and, as Griffin pointed out, the harmful long-term effects of some painkillers makes medical marijuana use an alluring alternative. Even the World Anti-Doping Agency and the UFC have begun by changing their thresholds of permissible amounts of marijuana.
Cheech And Chong Are Making A New Movie
Category: Celebrities | Posted on Mon, March, 31st 2014 by THCFinder
Like many veteran marijuana consumers, I grew up watching Cheech and Chong movies. My uncle has an unopened vinyl copy of the Cheech and Chong wedding album, which he considers to be his prized possession. I have a Chong Bong that will likely be buried alongside me in my casket when I die. There are few things that my friends, my family, and I like more than Cheech and Chong.
So it is with great excitement and joy that I post this article. It appears that Cheech and Chong are making a new movie. This confirms that Christmas does come early or late, depending on how you look at it. According to Rolling Stone:
“[Jay is] working on a script right now for us,” says Tommy Chong. “We’ve had some preliminary meetings. It looks really good. It looks really funny. It will be about us going to a festival called the Burning Joint. All sorts of shenanigans happen. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Though the pair have appeared together in various films over the years, this would mark the first official Cheech & Chong movie since their 1983 sequel Still Smokin’. Given his stoner-friendly resume, which includes Broken Lizard vehicles like Super Troopers and Beerfest, Chandrasekhar seems like an ideal match. Chong hopes the as-yet-untitled project will begin filming this summer.
Chong also emphasized that he and partner-in-crime Marin were not involved in the making of 2013′s Cheech & Chong’s Animated Movie, though they did approve of the film.
This is the best news I have heard out of the marijuana entertainment world in a long, long time. I can’t wait to see the film, and I probably won’t sleep until it comes out in theaters.

Actor Bill Murrays Views On Marijuana
Category: Celebrities | Posted on Tue, January, 21st 2014 by THCFinder
Legendary actor Bill Murray recently participated in an ‘Ask Me Anything’ segment on Reddit.Com. It didn’t take long for someone to ask him the following question, “How do you feel about recreational marijuana?”. Bill Murray supplied the following answer:
“Well that’s a large question, isn’t it? Because you’re talking about recreation, which everyone is in favor of. You are also talking about something that has been illegal for so many years, and marijuana is responsible for such a large part of the prison population, for the crime of self-medication. And it takes millions and billions of dollars by incarcerating people for this crime against oneself as best can be determined.”
“People are realizing that the war on drugs is a failure, that the amount of money spent, you could have bought all the drugs with that much money rather than create this army of people and incarcerated people. I think the terror of marijuana was probably overstated. I don’t think people are really concerned about it the way they once were. Now that we have crack and crystal and whatnot, people don’t even think about marijuana anymore, it’s like someone watching too many videogames in comparison.”
“The fact that states are passing laws allowing it means that its threat has been over-exagerated. Psychologists recommend smoking marijuana rather than drinking if you are in a stressful situation. These are ancient remedies, alcohol and smoking, and they only started passing laws against them 100 years ago.”
I have always been a Bill Murray fan. The guy is hilarious. Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders too!
