Dabs Snowball In Maine

dabs-in-maineFor those who may possibly live under a rock, dabs are a concentrated form of marijuana that can sometimes leave a user rocked. Seasoned smokers love dabs. They hit hard and last a long time. Their discreet odor and small amounts make them easy to transport and ingest sneakily, regardless of where you are. In Bangor, Maine, where medical marijuana laws changed to allow concentrated cannabis, dabs are gaining an extremely large amount of popularity in the medical marijuana community.
Since the explosion of e-cigarettes, the use of concentrated cannabis product has been on the rise. Since smoking them is so easy to conceal, people have been adding cannabis oil to their e-cigarettes, giving them an easy and portable way to get high. But while stoners are excited about the long lasting euphoria that comes with the concentrated product, law enforcement is worried about the effect that it might have on the people of Maine.
“Like methamphetamine labs, the production of the hash oil using this process can be extremely hazardous due to the chance of fire or explosion,” said Peter Arno, the northern commander of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. “The butane honey oil process produces a hash oil which can have extremely high THC content… If/when we run in to one of these types of extraction labs, MDEA’s lab team will respond in a similar fashion to meth labs.” While Arno has a point that the extraction process is dangerous, it isn’t completely fair to say that cannabis is comparable to meth. The extraction process can be dangerous and should only be done by professionals who know what they’re doing but comparing the two substances is just slightly unfair.
Even advocates of marijuana are voicing concern for those who aren’t experienced in the marijuana world. “Because it is more potent, there is more of a public health issue,” said Paul McCarrier, a former spokesman for Caregivers of Maine. “Concentrates are much stronger than leaf marijuana and new users should take note.” McCarrier now leads the Legalize Maine public action committee, a group working towards legalizing recreational marijuana statewide.
Concentrated cannabis holds large benefits for patients using medical marijuana. If people continue to act blindly and create their own products, therefore resulting in negative consequences, the possibility of concentrates being eliminated from the marijuana industry becomes larger. San Jose, California recently banned the sale of concentrates after fear of the negative effects got the best of people. In short, it is best to leave production of cannabis concentrate to the people who genuinely know what they’re doing

Colorado Attorney General: Home Hash Oil Production Is Illegal

Category: Concentrates | Posted on Thu, January, 1st 2015 by THCFinder
hash-oil-productionConcentrates, dabs, BHO, hash oil – whatever you call it, it’s becoming more and more popular everyday. Due to the increase in popularity, more and more people are making hash oil at home, which is a two edged sword. One one hand, people that are responsible and know what they are doing should be allowed to do whatever they want with marijuana. On the other hand, there are a lot of stupid people out there that, if given the opportunity to work with volatile chemicals, can hurt themselves and others. I’m sure we have all read stories about BHO explosions in houses, garages, and apartments. It’s a case of a handful of people ruining it for the rest of us that are responsible.
A lot of hash oil is being made in private residences across Colorado, which is something that is illegal in Colorado according to the Attorney General. Per 9 News:
Attorney General John Suthers said in a press release Tuesday:
Amendment 64 expressly prohibits an individual from making marijuana oil and unfortunately, Colorado is experiencing a real public safety issue as a result of unsafe and unlicensed manufacturing and production. The Blue Book made it clear that Amendment 64 allowed for the responsible and safe use of marijuana, so to decriminalize dangerous and unreasonable behavior in which people are getting hurt and houses are blowing up, defies the intent of the voters.
If a person is caught making hash oil at home without a license in Colorado, they can be charged with a felony. That’s a legal fact that I don’t think a lot of people know about. I think we will see more and more states legalize marijuana cultivation and possession in the future, but most if not all of them will ban home production of hash oil without a license. That is the case in my home State of Oregon, which recently voted to legalize marijuana.

Simple Extraction Using Acetone

Category: Concentrates | Posted on Fri, October, 31st 2014 by THCFinder
hash-oil-extraction-with-cannabisThere are many ways to get extracts from cannabis using different solvents. Most popularly used solvents include butane, water/ice, and isopropyl alcohol. You can also use high proof liquor as well, if that’s what you prefer. However, you can also use acetone to extract THC from plant matter and according to the Cannabis Cultivation; A Complete Grower’s Guide, this is one of the best ways to obtain an extract for making hash oil. This process is very easy and the tools needed are easily obtainable in everyone’s state. If you follow the directions properly, you will be left with a desirable product that will get you seriously stoned.
Step 1 -
If you’re using pot directly from the garden, be sure that you separate the stalks from the buds and leaves. While leaves contain low amounts of THC, they can still be added to the extraction process to add a little more to your final product. It’s recommended that you use buds, as extracts from buds are two to three times more potent than those with trim, leaves, and stems. Be sure that you remove any seeds that you find, as they can effect the final product’s taste and leave a not so desirable flavor in your mouth when smoking.
Step 2 -
Super- dry your buds by using a microwave oven. Put the plant matter in the microwave for a few minutes at a time until it crumbles to a powder at the touch. This is to help activate THC in the plant matter and will also help more THC absorb in to the acetone.
Step 3 -
Using a blender or coffee grinder, turn your now super-dry plant matter in to a powder. Once it is ground up thoroughly, use a flour sifter and sift the pot powder in to a large Pyrex dish.
Step 4 -
Take the acetone and pour it over the plant matter in the Pyrex dish. Be sure that the all of the plant matter is covered and then place a sheet of aluminum foil over it, like a lid. Let this dish sit in a cool place for at least two days, away from naked flames. Be aware that acetone is EXTREMELY flammable and it’s important to keep flames away from the solution while evaporating.
Step 5 -
After two days, take the remaining liquid (not all of it will have evaporated, thanks to the tinfoil lid) and pour it through a funnel lined with unbleached coffee filters (two should work, just be careful to let the liquid fully drain in case it takes a bit… You don’t want to waste any!). Pour this liquid in to a new container. If you’re using a crockpot for Step 6, you can pour the liquid directly in to your ceramic crockpot container.
Step 6 -
The last part of the process requires a slow cooker or a crock pot. Add your acetone solution to the crockpot and put it on low heat. This step needs to be done outside! Acetone fumes are very volatile and can ignite easily. By leaving this solution outside, you allow the fumes to evaporate directly in to the air. Once all of the liquid has evaporated, you are left with oil at the bottom of the container. Scrape it with a razor or another sharp object and wipe it on to parchment paper. You now have a smokeable product that is sure to get you stoned. Enjoy!
