Is Miley Cyrus' Salvia Worse Than Marijuana?

Category: Culture | Posted on Mon, December, 13th 2010 by THCFinder
A Miley Cyrus salvia video hit the Net last week as reported at sites such as Pop Crunch. It was a sight that put to rest any doubt that Miley Cyrus is no longer Hannah Montana.

Although salvia is currently legal in most states, it's a hallucinogenic herb that is becoming a cause for increasing concern, and it's not a drug intended for minors. Salvia causes "intense, but

short-lived, effects, including visual distortions, hallucinations, intense dissociation and disconnectedness from reality, physical or visual impairment, disorientation and dizziness." The drug takes hold within 30 seconds when smoked. You want to stay away from a drunk driver, and you'd want to stay away from a driver who has just smoked salvia.

Many parents of celebrities choose to ignore or deny the fact that their child has a problem with substance abuse. Lindsay Lohan's mother, Dina Lohan, comes to mind. But Billy Ray Cyrus has taken an honest approach about his feelings. He recently wrote on his Twitter, after viewing the infamous video, "Sorry guys. I had no idea. Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. I'm so sad. There is much beyond my control right now." It's not an easy time for the Cyrus family as Billy Ray and his wife Tish deal with divorce. We can only imagine how difficult the divorce must be for Miley, too.

The famous Dr. Drew is worried about the young singer, as well. "Adolescents don't get depressed the way adults do. They don't get sad and cry and withdraw. They often act out and become irritable, they act out with drugs and... get in trouble and she seems to be suffering," Dr. Drew said. "This cat is out of the bag. This is a child who is in trouble and who is suffering and this is her way of trying to manage that. Get professional help."

Currently, Cyrus is able to maintain her responsibilities, show up on time, entertain her fans. Was Miley Cyrus in the salvia video just having fun, and that's it? She may be sexier in her attire, but she's not a Lindsay Lohan. Not yet.

Iowa coach says receiver Johnson-Koulianos is gone for good

Category: Culture | Posted on Thu, December, 9th 2010 by THCFinder

Standout wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos isn’t merely suspended from the Iowa football team after being charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine, running a drug house and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

“He’ll not play again here,” Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said on a teleconference call on Thursday morning.

Iowa plays Missouri in the Dec. 28 Insight Bowl game in Tempe, Ariz.

For perspective, the loss of Johnson-Koulianos is comparable to Missouri suspending and then kicking senior tailback Derrick Washington off the team. Washington was dismissed before the 2010 season after being charged with sexual assault.

Washington was Missouri’s best running back. Johnson-Koulianos was Iowa’s leading receiver this season with 46 receptions for 745 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Johnson-Koulianos is also Iowa’s career leader in catches and reception yardage, and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection this season.

Ferentz also said he was in favor of Missouri joining the Big Ten Conference, back when much of the expansion talk involved the possibility of MU doing that.

“It made perfect sense from a coach’s standpoint, and geographically,” Ferentz said. “But as you might well imagine I’m way down the food chain when it comes to making decisions like that.

“If anybody asked for my input, I can’t remember it.”

German police seize marijuana Christmas tree

Category: Culture | Posted on Wed, December, 8th 2010 by THCFinder

BERLIN — A two-metre (six-foot) marijuana plant decorated as a Christmas tree was confiscated from the home of "an old hippie", who is now facing a drug possession charge, German police said Wednesday.

In a tongue-in-cheek press release titled "All you need is love or how a hippie celebrates Christmas," police in the western city of Koblenz said they discovered the giant plant in the living room of the suspect.

"The two-metre-tall marijuana plant had been put in a Christmas tree stand and decorated with a string of lights," the police said.

"When asked, the hashish fan told the perplexed officers that he had intended to add more decorations to the 'tree' and place the presents under it, according to tradition."

Police seized the plant and another 150 grams (5.3 ounces) of marijuana found in the apartment.

German authorities on Tuesday said that a 21-year-old man in the southern city of Munich had been detained with a homemade Advent calendar with cannabis behind each little door instead of chocolate.

The suspect was released but now faces charges of possessing drugs.

Dutch Govt Plan To Let Only Locals In Marijuana Shops May Backfire

Lawrence Mijares - AHN News Contributor

Amsterdam, Netherlands (AHN) - A new plan by the Dutch government to issue special passes only for locals to enter neighborhood shops that allow smoking of marijuana is drawing criticism as encouraging more crime by visiting foreign marijuana users.

Tilburg University researcher Nicole Maalsté sees no positive effect on the government's plan of issuing nationwide special passes to a select few, preferably Dutch locals, to enter coffee shops where marijuana is legally consumed.

The Netherlands has been experiencing drug and marijuana related crimes by tourists who patronize these coffee shops, as coffee shop owners now get most of their marijuana supply from organized crime sources.

Dutch police have conducted a series of raids on Dutch residents who privately grow their own marijuana. This kind is considered by many to be organically "safe" and free of additives.

Maalsté also criticized the measure as promoting the spread of large-scale and "unsafe" marijuana to be sold in the coffee shops, which are largely patronized by tourists who are reported to later commit drug related crimes and violence.

With the proposal to issue special passes, Maalsté expects tourists to instead buy their marijuana from the streets. She also expected few Dutch locals would come forward and be publicly registered as an official marijuana user.

Meanwhile, the European court of justice will rule on Dec. 16 whether it is legal under EU law to ban foreigners from entering Dutch marijuana shops.

SNOOP DOGG NOT HAPPY ABOUT WILLIE NELSON'S WEED BUST

Category: Culture | Posted on Mon, December, 6th 2010 by THCFinder
Snoop Dogg is no stranger to touting his love for marijuana, and he's not pleased that his weed-toking buddy, Willie Nelson was pinched for possessing the green stuff. The Doggfather recently spoke on the country legend's arrest after border patrol at Sierra Blanca, Texas detained him for possessing six ounces of the sticky icky.

"They better leave Willie the f--- alone!" a heated Snoop told TMZ. "Willie Nelson is a legend, man. Really, sometimes you gotta back off certain people and have a certain amount of respect for your elders. Willie Nelson is our elder. He's somebody who lived through many decades of music and hard times and whatnot and living good and going up and down. So give him that respect."

The Cali rapper continued his tirade by going after the police officer who put him behind bars. 'Who's the motherf---er that arrested him? I want to know who's the police officer that said 'You're under arrest. You've got a right to remain silent.' You dumb motherf--ker, you. You stupid motherf---er you. What you think you going to gain by arresting Willie Nelson? He got out and he back smoking right now!"

Snoop collaborated with his toke buddy on 'My Medicine,' a track dedicated to pot that was included on his 2008 album 'Ego Trippin'.' He capped his diatribe by cementing his love for Nelson and issuing a warning: "If you got a problem with Willie Nelson, you got a problem with me!"
