Third medical marijuana dispensary to open in Woodbridge
Category: Dispensaries | Posted on Wed, November, 20th 2013 by THCFinder

Garden State Dispensary, formerly known as Compassionate Care Center of America, is located on Route 1 north in Woodbridge near routes 35 and 9. Registration is important because patients may be affiliated with only one dispensary, O'Dowd said.
"Patients now have three options to choose from in terms of geographic location, quality of service and the number and type of strains available," O'Dowd said in a statement.
An opening date has not been announced.
"We are in the final phases of inspections, and working very closely with regulators," said Florida Attorney Yale Galanter, who is the spokesman for the dispensary.
Some 1,500 patients and caregivers have registered with the state's program, which has gotten off to a very slow start, much to the disappointment of patients.
In March 2011, the health department awarded contracts to six nonprofits, two each for north, central and south Jersey, to serve the state. Compassionate Care Foundation, Inc. of Egg Harbor opened last month; Greenleaf Compassion Center in Montclair opened in December.

Jurors announced three guilty verdicts Monday for sale of marijuana and two counts of possession for sale. Jackson and his attorney, Lance Rogers, told NBC 7 they plan to appeal the case.
In 2009, Jackson was accused of managing and profiting off Answerdam Alternative Care Dispensary in Kearny Mesa. The state’s medical marijuana law protects people from prosecution if they form non-profit collectives or cooperatives.
Prosecutor Chris Lindberg said Jackson broke the law.
“He grossed close to $160,000 in 75 days of operation, so by no means was it a non-profit. It went beyond that. He didn’t comply with the medical marijuana laws,” Lindberg said.
Outside the courtroom, Rogers said even after this five-year case, he and Jackson want to appeal the case to send a message.
“We are here to keep the fight going to show the local community and the United States as a whole do not support this failed war on drugs,” Rogers said.
However, Chris Lindberg said the guilty verdicts send a message of their own.
He responded, “If they follow the law, they’ll be fine. If they don’t and try to hide behind the law to make a lot of money, they may find themselves in Mr. Jackson’s shoes.”

Medical marijuana dispensary opens in Lake Havasu City
Category: Dispensaries | Posted on Tue, November, 5th 2013 by THCFinder

“We’re helping the patients,” said medical marijuana dispensary consultant Joel Williams.
DISPENSARY
With card-holding patients entering the dispensary, the stark and sterile lobby is comparable to that of a doctor’s office. Patients check in, and wait their turn for access into the bud tender room, which is a secured area. After selecting their medicines, the patients pay for their selections and are free to go.
The dispensary officially opened its doors Oct. 10, and employs seven or eight individuals. There are at least two med-tenders on staff at any one time to help patients. Inside, past the lobby, is the bud tender room, secondary reception area for privacy, a staff processing area, and a security room.
“We had an intentional soft opening so we could be sure the systems are in place and the operation is successful,” Williams said.
Security measures at the dispensary are comparable to that of a bank, and include 46 security cameras, an elaborate alarm and monitoring system, bullet-proof glass and bullet-proof walls.
City zoning issues detailing where the dispensary could be located within city limits and construction delays pushed the opening of the dispensary about 90 days past the directors’ anticipated July opening. In all, the local dispensary has been in the works for about 2 1/2 years.

Category: Dispensaries | Posted on Sat, November, 2nd 2013 by THCFinder

The Vermont Department of Public Safety announced Thursday it has conditionally approved locating a marijuana dispensary in Brattleboro.
The facility, to be operated by Southern Vermont Wellness, Inc.
It will be the fourth and final marijuana dispensary in the state as part of the Vermont Marijuana Program, which was signed into law in 2011 as a way to dispense marijuana to people seeking relief from chronic medical conditions.
Vermont in 2004 enacted a law allowing the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. More recently, Vermont in July decriminalized marijuana possession for amounts of an ounce or less.
In Vermont, the approval of dispensaries and oversight of the registry is in the hands of the state Department of Public Safety, rather than individual communities.
In Vermont, people who need want to uses medical marijuana for pain management for any serious or terminal illness may register with the state in order to be free from any criminal prosecution by police for possession of the drug.
The dispensaries are not allowed to provide marijuana to anyone except people listed in the registry or their licensed caregiver.
The registry is open only to Vermont residents

Santa Ana home to remaining O.C. pot shops
Category: Dispensaries | Posted on Thu, October, 31st 2013 by THCFinder

Nearly six months after the state Supreme Court ruled municipalities can ban storefront marijuana dispensaries using their land-use powers, Orange County cities and law enforcement have run out most of the shops selling to medical marijuana patients.
Article Tab: Most Orange County storefront pot shops closed after a May state Supreme Court decision that allowed cities to ban them. Suite A Laguna Health was the last surviving pot shop in south Orange County, and was shuttered in late August. The space, in a strip mall on Crown Valley Parkway, is now empty and up for lease.
Garden Grove closed more than 60 shops after the May 6 decision, said Community Development Director Susan Emery.

2nd Medical Marijuana Facility Opens in NJ
Category: Dispensaries | Posted on Tue, October, 29th 2013 by THCFinder

The Compassionate Care Foundation facility in Egg Harbor Township received its final permit earlier this month.
The site, in a converted casino warehouse, will begin with 650 patients who have registered through the state. Organizers say more than 200 appointments have already been made.
The Compassionate Care Foundation facility has been allowed to grow cannabis since June. Organizers there say they hope to eventually serve 20,000 with qualifying conditions, such as multiple sclerosis and terminal cancer.
The state has selected six nonprofit groups overall to grow and sell medical marijuana. But the only facility now in operation is one in Montclair, which opened its doors last December.
The four other facilities remain in development.
