D.C. Fair To Include Marijuana Growing Competition?

I am a big fan of fairs. I love fair food, and I’m a total sucker for the fair games in which the contestant can play a totally rigged game to win a prize that carries questionable value. I don’t know why, but I always have to give up a buck or two to try to land a coin in a tray, pop a balloon, or knock over some milk jugs. It’s fair season right now, and it sounds like at least one upcoming fair in America’s capital will feature a marijuana competition. Per NBC Washington:

For the first time, the District of Columbia State Fair will include a marijuana growing contest.

Participants in the pot-growing contest will be judged on appearance, odor and touch, including whether the stem is sticky and whether it bends or snaps.

I was able to find an entry form (at this link here), which stated the following:

The 2015 Cannabis Business Summit And Expo Is Coming To Denver

Category: Events | Posted on Sun, June, 14th 2015 by THCFinder

cannabis business summit and expoI get e-mails and social media messages every day from people asking for advice about the growing marijuana industry. They want to know the trends, who to seek advice from, and opinions about their business ideas. I tell all of them the same thing – go to a reputable marijuana industry event. Sure, you can spend long hours trying to hunt down all of the marijuana industry leaders from various sectors, and trying to get them to respond to questions. However, I think you will find that most of the people that have the best advice are hard to reach because so many people are seeking their advice that they are likely speaking at an event.

Events are good too because you can network with other people that are pursuing similar dreams as yours. You can learn tips and tricks that they have learned along the way, as well as provide your own knowledge to people that are newer to the industry than yourself. Some people scoff at spending hundreds of dollars to attend an event. But what I always tell people is if you can’t spare hundreds of dollars to fine tune your skills and take your business idea to the next level, then chances are you likely won’t succeed in the industry.

There’s simply no other way to meet so many experts in one place, and be able to hear all of them speak on panels and keynote addresses. I can almost guarantee that if you attend a marijuana business event, you will learn things that you didn’t even know you needed to know. I have been running this blog for over five years, and I learn new things at every marijuana business event I attend. Part of that is because there are so many new ideas coming into the industry, and part of that is because the rules, regulations, and environment that surround the industry are constantly evolving. What is true one day may not still be true the next day.

NORML Lobby Day Less Than One Week Away

Category: Events | Posted on Sun, May, 17th 2015 by THCFinder

norml scholarships drug policy reform conference

The NORML Legislative Fly-In in Washington, DC is less than one week away. Please join NORML in this call to action.*

If you’ve not pre-registered for the May 20th cannabis lobbying training and messaging day, please do ASAP by going here. The conference schedule and speaker list are online.

NORML activist and leadership awards, a silent auction and social on Thursday night are all on tap (so to speak…).

Marijuana is becoming legal in our lifetimes. Please join us at the nation’s capitol and help hasten these long-needed public policy reforms by lobbying your elected policy makers.

*There are over 40 million cannabis consumers in the United States (according to government data) and NORML knows that 99.99999% of these direct stakeholders are not going to come to Washington to lobby on cannabis law reforms next week, but, that does not mean they can’t be active on May 21st-NORML Lobby Day-contacting their federal policymakers (one congressperson and two senators)

If you and your cannabis tolerant friends and family can’t join us in Washington, D.C. next week, please consider, for the day, being a ‘virtual lobbyist’ for cannabis law reform. To do so, please visit NORML’s Take Action Center

Thanks in advance and hope to see you next week in Washington (where the possession and use of cannabis by adults over 21 years of age is legal).
