Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival 2012

Lovers of weed and weed-inspired musicians ought to prepare themselves for the Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival 2012.  Come March 3 at NOS Events Center in Southern California, twenty artists will take two separate stages in celebration of music, and, well, marijuana.
Last year, Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd expressed his surprise that the audience hadn’t slipped into a weed coma by the time Incubus had taken the stage.  Throughout the day, billows of smoke escalated from a huge mass of fans that never seemed to crash from their perpetual high.
Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival 2012 should have the same tenacity as last year, with headliners including Sublime with Rome, Korn, Wiz Khalifa, Cypress Hill, The Dirty Heads and Café Tacuba.  More announcements are sure to come in the near future regarding the other bands that will be playing.
The festival comes equipped with Medical Marijuana Expo, which includes hemp industry exhibits and expert panel discussions.  Those with club cards can smoke out at the Patient Consumption Area, although the entire festival ends up feeling like a consumption area.  I mean, come on, the food court is even dubbed as the ‘Massive Munchie Garden’

The fabled Emerald Cup is returning to the legendary Mendocino spiritual sanctum, Area 101, this Saturday. As the blurb says, "Proclaimed by Rolling Stone Magazine,' as the premiere competition in America.'" And they're not kidding.
The Emerald Cup, "the world's only outdoor organic cannabis competition," first lit up on the scene almost a decade ago, with the initial competition bringing in 22 entrees to be judged. Last year, the entries almost reached 150.
But that's just pot talk. What's cool about the Emerald Cup? It is so much more than your average medical cannabis bake-off.

Medical marijuana to be used in open at event

AUGUSTA -- Certified patients will use medical marijuana in an outdoor tent on public property as part of a trade show at the Augusta Civic Center this weekend.
The sanctioned use of marijuana on public property -- part of the two-day Home Grown Maine Trade Show organized by Medical Marijuana Caregivers of Maine -- is unprecedented in the state, the result of intensive negotiations among Kennebec County District Attorney's Office, the Augusta Police Department, event organizers and civic center personnel.
Accommodating legal users of the drug posed a sticky issue for civic center staff.
For instance, where could attendees who hold proper legal documentation be permitted to use marijuana for medical purposes? The state law that permits medical use of marijuana to relieve debilitating medical conditions bans people from smoking it in public places.
Organizers posed the question to Dana Colwill, civic center director.
The answer -- negotiated through law enforcement officials and transmitted to the show organizers -- is to use a vaporizer, which produces no smoke, in a controlled location.
Admission to the tent will be controlled by Medical Marijuana Caregivers of Maine staff, who will check the legal qualifications of persons.

Category: Events | Posted on Wed, October, 19th 2011 by THCFinder

An attack on safe access is an attack on patients!
Join Americans for Safe Access (ASA) and a statewide coalition on Monday, October 24, for a peaceful protest at the Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles to protest the Obama Administration’s new attack on medical cannabis patients and property owners! Then march two blocks to Los Angeles City Hall to join the Occupy LA protest and visit City Council offices to oppose plans to ban medical cannabis cooperatives and collectives in the city.

What:  Peaceful Protest Against the Federal Attack on Safe Access

When:  12:00 PM * Monday, October 24, 2011

Where:  Edward R. Roybal Federal Building (Downtown), 255 E. Temple Street, Los Angeles, CA 90006. Between N. Los Angeles St. and N. Alameda St.

Bring:  Friends, signs, banners, horns, drums, bells, sunscreen, water, etc.!

The peaceful protest will begin with a press conference at noon. Anna Boyce, a Registered Nurse and co-author of California's Proposition 215 will speak. Ms. Boyce will be asking for a meeting with President Obama and calling for an end to the federal attacks. Other speakers will be announced soon.

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) announced a major attack on medical cannabis patients’ access to medicine last week. The DOJ says medical cannabis patients’ cooperatives and collectives in California are illegal, and ordered them to close within forty five days. The DOJ also dusted off and old Bush-era tactic, sending letters threatening property owners who rent to medical cannabis tenants with prosecution and asset forfeiture. Most of California’s legal medical cannabis patients rely on cooperatives and collectives for safe access to the medicine they need to treat the symptoms of cancer, HIV/AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, chronic pain, and other serious conditions. Tell President Obama and the DOJ to stop the federal attack on safe access and to support a change in federal law!

IDAHO hope fest

Category: Events | Posted on Wed, September, 7th 2011 by THCFinder

Idaho HOPE Fest is the first annual event being held in Boise, ID to advocate for the end of the federal government’s war on cannabis consumers and to promote the re-legalization of industrial hemp. HOPE stands for Hemp Offers People Everything, because it does offer people everything.  We will feature live entertainment, guest speakers, vendors, and educational exhibits on cannabis and the politics, culture, science, and controversy surrounding it.

The people behind Idaho's first hope fest say it's because Cannabis, or marijuana, has been classified as a Schedule I drug like heroin, with no accepted medical value. It’s placed higher than methamphetamine, cocaine and anabolic steroids in the list of controlled substances, yet it is non-toxic and has not produced a single death in history related to overdose. Modern science has proven that cannabis does help treat and alleviate symptoms from many debilitating medical conditions and illnesses.
