Science Finally Explains How Cannabis Kills Cancer Cells And It's Pretty Amazing
Only recently we had published an article explaining how scientists at the National Institute of Health (NIH) have found cannabis to be a potential killer of cancer cells. You can read the article here.
On that note, we're going to talk about a scientific explanation that supports the NIH claim: "cannabis and cannabinoids may have benefits in treating the symptoms of cancer or the side effects of cancer therapies."
A molecular biologist, Dr Christina Sanchez, at the Compultense University in Madrid (Spain) spells out the exact mechanism at work, wherein the THC - "the main psychoactive constitute of the cannabis plant" - completely destroys the cancer cells.
Cannabinoids is a group of compounds that comprise cannabinol and the active components of cannabis. These bring the cannabinoid receptors in our body alive. Dr Sanchez explains how our body itself produces endocannabinoids that activate various processes within, "creating a healthy environment". According to her, it's important to note that cannabis has the potential to kill anything cancerous, without giving birth to any psychoactive effects.Read More:http://www.indiatimes.com/news/world/science-finally-explains-how-cannabis-kills-cancer-cells-and-its-pretty-amazing-244847.html
Denver quarantines marijuana products at two businesses for pesticides
Denver health officials Tuesday began inspecting and quarantining hundreds of marijuana products because their labels listed pesticides not approved for use on cannabis.
The move comes about six months after the city quarantined 100,000 plants at 11 grow facilities over concerns about pesticides.
Although pesticides are widely used on crops, their use on cannabis remains problematic because no safety standards exist. Marijuana is illegal under federal law, so the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which regulates pesticides, has never established any limits.
The Colorado Department of Agriculture, however, has created a list of pesticides it says can be used.
The holds at Mountain High Suckers on South Lipan Street and MMJ America on Arapahoe Street come after Denver's Department of Environmental Health late Monday warned businesses that products with labels that reflect the use of unapproved pesticides should be removed from shelves and destroyed or returned to the manufacturer.
Salem City Council allows early recreational pot sales
SALEM, Ore. - The Salem City Council voted 8 to 1 Monday night, to allow "early sales" of recreational marijuana. Mayor Anna Peterson was the only member to vote no.
The decision will allow medical marijuana dispensaries to sell recreational pot to customers 21 years and older from October 1 through December 31.
At the city council meeting, some voters expressed frustration that the early sales period was even up for debate. Others were angry that council only gave the public two days notice that it would be on Monday's agenda.
"You guys are like the Amazon Prime of Marijuana policy making," said blogger, Brian Hines, during public testimony.
