Category: Odd | Posted on Sat, January, 22nd 2011 by THCFinder

NEW YORK, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- New York police said they arrested two men accused of running a high-end cocaine and marijuana business they advertised with business cards.

Investigators said an informant found the business cards advertising the drug-dealing services of Thomas Zenon and Miguel Guzman in a New York University dorm, and undercover officers made 12 buys during a three-month period, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

Police said Zenon and Guzman, who were arrested Wednesday, had more than 200 customers in the Manhattan borough. The men were scheduled to be arraigned on drug charges Friday.

Officers said Guzman was en route to a delivery when he was arrested Wednesday and was holding 16 grams of cocaine, more than $1,600 cash and four cellphones. Zenon was arrested at a restaurant with more than $600 in addition to 20 bags of marijuana found in his car.

Alleged marijuana traffickers call cops after their car is hijacked

Category: Odd | Posted on Wed, January, 19th 2011 by THCFinder

If you are illegally transporting marijuana across the United States, do you call the cops if you are carjacked?

That dilemma faced two people Friday night as they allegedly hauled 170 pounds of high grade marijuana from Utah to North Carolina.

In the middle of Wyoming - on Interstate 80 near Sinclair - the marijuana traffickers had their car hijacked, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The victims decided to call the cops.

As of Wednesday, three people are in custody - the man and woman who were allegedly transporting the marijuana - and one of the two male carjackers, according to Sgt. Stephen Townsend, spokesman for the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Townsend said that about 9 p.m. Friday, troopers were told of the alleged carjacking. The victims said a couple of guys in a red SUV had taken their car by force. The victims had been left unharmed next to the interstate.

A short time later, troopers spotted both the red SUV and the carjacked vehicle. Two men were transferring bundles of marijuana from the car to the SUV.

When the alleged carjackers spotted the cops, they sped away, tossing packages of marijuana from the SUV.

At Rawlins, the SUV sped into town. One of the alleged carjackers jumped out. The SUV slammed into a snow bank and the driver fled.

The first of the alleged carjackers was apprehended with the help of the Rawlins Police Department.

The second guy got away.

Officials seized the marijuana, which has a street value of about $425,000.

Drug-Smuggling Pigeon Captured Carrying Cocaine, Marijuana To Colombia Prisoners

Category: Odd | Posted on Wed, January, 19th 2011 by THCFinder

Call it a case of high-flying criminal ingenuity: Colombia police captured a carrier pigeon trying to fly into a Bucarmanga jail with marijuana and cocaine paste strapped to its back, the BBC isreporting.

Officers say they recovered the bird about 1 block away from the prison. Carrying a package with 40 grams of marijuana and 5 grams of a paste containing cocaine, the bird -- which police believe had been trained by inmates or accomplices -- appeared to be unable to successfully clear the prison walls.

"We found the bird about a block away from the prison trying to fly over with a package, but due to the excess weight it could not accomplish its mission," said Jose Angel Mendoza, the local police commander, told the Telegraph. The bird is reportedly now being cared for by the local ecological police unit.

This is not the first time birds have been used by prisoners for smuggling or drug-related purposes. Local police say previous pigeons had been used to smuggle Sim cards for cell phones into the same jail. And last year, a parrot named Lorenzo was "arrested" after being found to be tipping off traffickers at a drug warehouse in Barranquilla.

Teenager in Critical Condition After Snorting Dog Medication, Smoking Marijuana

An 18-year-old Florida man remains in critical condition Friday after he and six other young people reportedly snorted dog medication, inhaled butane, smoked marijuana, ate mushrooms and took over-the-counter cold medicine.

Lee County Sheriff's Office spokesperson John Sheehan said officers responded early Thursday morning to a medical assistance call at 1:40 a.m. at an apartment in the Forestwood complex in Ft. Myers, Fla. after a neighbor called 911.

"When we arrived it was obvious they were under the influence," Sheehan said. "It was bunch of teenagers that were hanging out and using poor judgment."

According to police reports, Melinda Santos-Rios, 30, had arrived home from work when she heard someone in the apartment next door say, "He's not moving."

Rios told police she ran next door and everyone inside "seemed to be really out of it," so she called 911.

All seven were rushed to local area hospitals early Thursday morning. The 18-year-old man was the only one whooverdosed on the strange drug concoction, according to Lee County police.

The six other victims, including 16-year-old Mariah Miles, who hosted the get-together, were treated and released from the hospital Thursday. Aside from Miles, the others were between the ages of 18 and 20.

The police report said the kids "were transported because they had mulitple drugs in their system ranging from Benadryl, to shrooms, to acid, to clonapin [sic] and marijuana."

Spokesman Sheehan said no drugs were found inside the home.

"All I know is there were multiple illegal drugs found in the system of each person and there were some that were not illegal," he said.

Mariah Miles told ABC affiliate WZVN in Ft. Myers that she and her friends were just hanging out while her mother was at work.

"I didn't think anything about it," she said. "I did weed and Klonopin."

According to police, the neighbor had already called 911 by the time Mariah's mother, Melissa Miles, who rents the apartment, came home and found a terrifying scene.

Norton High School teacher charged with giving marijuana to students

Category: Odd | Posted on Wed, December, 29th 2010 by THCFinder

NORTON, Ohio -- A Norton High School math teacher and tennis and basketball coach was accused Wednesday in Medina County Common Pleas Court of throwing pot parties for students at his home.

Terry Sense, 37, of Wadsworth Township, was charged with 28 counts of corrupting another with drugs.

The charges followed a four-month investigation by Norton police and the Medina County Sheriff's Office. Norton Police Chief Thad Hete said Sense lived alone. Investigators said the incidents occurred between June 2007 and December 2009, but declined to say how many times it happened.

Police said all students were juveniles at the time of the incidents. Some are still at the school and others have graduated.

School officials put Sense on paid administrative leave on Oct. 5 when the allegations surfaced. He has taught at the school since 1996.

He was held in Medina County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
